Term Contract: 2 years

ABOUT THE JOB

As a Trainee Administration Officer in our Community Partnerships department, you'll be at the heart of initiatives that strengthen connections across our community. Working across a variety of teams, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting community engagement activities, programs and projects while building valuable workplace skills in a energetic local government environment. Putting our customers at the centre of everything we do, you'll play an important role in delivering exceptional administrative and customer support to help create positive outcomes for the Lake Macquarie community.

With support from your team and online study through the Australian College of Commerce and Management, you'll complete a Certificate IV in Business Administration while developing practical experience in customer service, stakeholder engagement, administration, records management, event coordination and community-focused project support

In this role, we will support you to:

- Deliver exceptional customer service by responding to enquiries and providing professional support to community members and stakeholders.
- Build positive relationships across Council, with community groups and external stakeholders.
- Manage customer requests and assist with maintaining accurate records and administration systems.
- Contribute to projects, programs and initiatives that deliver positive outcomes for the community.
- Provide administrative support, including preparing correspondence, reports, documentation, requisitions and invoices.




- Coordinate incoming correspondence and assist with workflow management across the department.
- Support meetings, workshops, community events and training activities, including preparing agendas and taking minutes.
- Develop your skills through on-the-job learning, training and professional development opportunities while completing your qualification.
- Champion effective records management practices and support the department's document management processes

The position is located at Councils’ temporary office in Wallsend and may involve travel to multiple areas within Lake Macquarie.

- Receive a wage whilst studying towards a qualification, starting from $761.05 to $889.60 per week plus 12 per cent superannuation

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for enthusiastic people who are ready to learn, grow and make a positive impact in the community. You will have:

- Completed Year 12 (or equivalent) with satisfactory results in English and Mathematics.
- A passion for delivering great customer service.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and computer skills.




- A willingness to complete a Certificate IV in Business Administration and other community engagement-related qualifications as part of the traineeship.
- The ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
- Commitment to completing all training and study requirements.

Please note: Candidates who have already completed a Certificate IV in Business, or a higher-level qualification, are not be eligible for this traineeship.
