We are seeking an experienced Rake Hand to join our asphalt crew and support the delivery of quality road and civil infrastructure works.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in achieving a high-quality asphalt finish and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding construction environment.

Working alongside our Crew Leaders, Supervisors, plant operators and wider asphalt team, you will assist with the manual placement, raking, luting, levelling and finishing of hot asphalt across a variety of projects.

About the Role

As a Rake Hand, your focus will be on detailed hand-finishing and supporting the wider paving operation. Your responsibilities will include:

- Manually placing, spreading, raking, luting and levelling hot asphalt.
- Completing detailed finishing around edges, joints, kerbs, pits, driveways, tie-ins and confined areas.
- Assisting with site preparation, sweeping, cleaning and surface preparation.
- Identifying and correcting minor surface issues such as high or low spots, loose material, segregation and uneven finishes.
- Supporting paving crews, plant operators, truck drivers and supervisors during asphalt placement.
- Assisting with compaction activities, site clean-up and general crew duties.
- Loading, unloading and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Working safely around mobile plant, live traffic and hot materials.
- Participating in pre-starts, toolbox meetings and site safety activities.
- Maintaining a consistently high standard of workmanship and surface finish.

About You





We are looking for someone with practical asphalt or civil construction experience who understands the importance of teamwork, safety and attention to detail.

To be successful, you will ideally have:

- Previous experience within asphalt, road construction, civil works or road maintenance.
- Experience undertaking asphalt raking, luting or manual finishing work.
- A strong understanding of protected work practices around mobile plant, traffic and hot materials.
- A current White Card.
- A current HR Driver’s Licence.
- A current Roller Ticket.
- Reliable transport.
- The physical ability to undertake repetitive manual work and work outdoors in demanding conditions.
- The ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a crew.
- A reliable, punctual and team-focused approach.

Additional civil construction tickets, including skid steer, loader, traffic management or First Aid qualifications, will be highly regarded.
