Connecting people, culture, and knowledge
Blacktown City’s libraries help people learn, connect and access information. As a Library Technician – Customer Service, you present children’s programs that support early literacy, assist customers to find resources, answer enquiries and help people use library technology. You join new members, explain library services and digital platforms, process loans and returns, and support the day-to-day operation of library spaces.
Every day looks different. You might help a customer access eBooks and online resources, guide someone to study materials, or assist with circulation desk services. You work closely with colleagues to provide friendly, timely service and help customers get the most from their library membership.
Your work makes a difference to a diverse community of all ages and backgrounds. You help people access information, technology, study spaces, programs and collections that support learning, connection and lifelong discovery.
This is a part-time chance working 20 hours per week for up to 12 months, including a regular Saturday shift. If you're a skilled communicator who enjoys helping others and wants to make a positive impact in the community, we would love to hear from you.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
- a term contract, part-time role for up to 12 months with one of Australia's largest councils
- an entry level salary commencing at $1,420.05 per week, pro-rata
- a 20-hour working week
- 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
- ongoing training and development support
- access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
Our commitment to safety
Blacktown City Council is committed to safety. We have introduced alcohol and other drug testing at the pre-employment phase, and via a series of random and cause testing.
We are a child safe organisation that supports and promotes the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of children.
