Location: WiSE Sutherland Shire – 31 Koonya Cct, Caringbah NSW 2229

Position Overview:

WiSE Medical is looking for a Medical Scribe who will work alongside the Emergency Physicians to support them in delivering prompt, quality, and thorough patient care. You will document patient encounters and assist in maintaining accurate and detailed medical records. Your role is essential in enhancing the efficiency and quality of patient care by ensuring that all patient interactions and medical information are accurately recorded and managed.

This role also requires the ability to work as a Patient Liaison Officer (PLO), our medical receptionist, when rostered to the front desk — being the first point of contact for our patients and visitors and providing excellent customer service while maintaining the smooth operation of our front desk. This role requires a proactive and confident individual who can manage various tasks with attention to detail and a compassionate approach.

Team members will be trained to perform both roles, but will only be rostered to one role per shift. PLO and Scribe duties will not be performed at the same time on the same shift.

This role requires a valid paid Working with Children Check, as well as evidence of immunity to the specific diseases outlined under the NSW Health Category A mandatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Medical Scribe

- Accurately record patient histories, physical exams, and other essential information during clinical encounters.
- Support Emergency Physicians by scribing with real-time medical notetaking, ensuring the completeness of medical records.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, addressing questions and facilitating communication.
- Utilise AI-powered scribe tools to assist in real-time documentation of patient consultations.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation generated by AI tools,



making manual adjustments as necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date and organised records in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Monitor AI tool performance, identifying and troubleshooting issues or inaccuracies and provide feedback.
- Perform general administrative tasks, including patient registration, scheduling, correspondence, and filing.

Patient Liaison Officer (PLO)

Front Desk Management

- Greet and assist patients and visitors with a friendly and professional demeanour.
- Answer and direct phone calls efficiently, handling inquiries and scheduling appointments.
- Maintain a tidy and organised reception area.

Administrative Support:
- Manage and update patient databases with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Process payments and handle billing inquiries; create invoices as needed.
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and scheduling.
- Manage office inventory and order supplies when necessary.
- Assist with document preparation, including forms and reports.

Customer Service:
- Handle patient complaints and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Provide clear communication and support to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Proactively identify areas where support is needed and take initiative to address them.

Qualifications & Skills:

- Education: Undertaking a Doctor of Medicine degree; possess a robust understanding of medical terminology.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with medical software and electronic health records (EHR)



systems is desirable.
- Experience in a medical setting is desirable. Prior scribing experience is a plus.

Skills:

- Exceptional touch-typing speed of at least 70 words per minute, over 80 words per minute is preferred.
- Excellent listening skills
- The ability to identify and document crucial information.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively under pressure.
