Job Description

Position: Cook Salary: $79000 - $85000 + Superannuation per annum Hanok Korean BBQ Toowoomba is seeking an experienced Cook to join our kitchen team. The role is hands-on and focuses on preparing, seasoning and cooking Korean cuisine across our BBQ, entrée, soup, rice, noodle, pancake, fried chicken and side-dish menu. You will work closely with the kitchen team to deliver consistent food quality, presentation, food safety and efficient service. Duties and Responsibilities

- Inspect and select meat, seafood, vegetables, sauces, seasonings and other ingredients required for daily food preparation and service.
- Measure, clean, trim, slice, chop, blend, marinate, season, heat, cook and cool ingredients using appropriate cookery methods and restaurant recipes.
- Prepare and cook a range of Korean dishes, including marinated BBQ meats, soups and stews, bibimbap and rice dishes, pancakes, fried chicken, seafood, dumplings and side dishes.
- Monitor cooking processes, temperatures, texture, portion size and presentation to ensure food is properly cooked and consistently presented before service.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other kitchen staff during preparation and service, and provide practical guidance to junior staff where required.
- Clean and maintain cooking equipment, utensils and work areas, and ensure equipment is used safely and kept in good working condition.
- Monitor food and kitchen-supply stock levels, rotate and store ingredients correctly,



and advise when replenishment is required.
- Follow food-safety, hygiene, sanitation, allergen and workplace safety procedures at all times, including correct storage, cooling, freezing and preservation of food.
- Assist with testing, refining and introducing recipes or menu items, while maintaining established taste, portion and presentation standards.

About You

- Proven experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen; experience with Korean cuisine, Korean BBQ or Asian cuisine is highly regarded.
- Good practical knowledge of meat preparation, marinating, frying, grilling, soup and stew preparation, and high-volume service.
- Strong communication, teamwork and time-management skills.
- High attention to detail and a consistent approach to food quality, portioning and presentation.
- Reliable, punctual and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced kitchen setting, including busy lunch, dinner and weekend services.

Qualifications and Experience

- Relevant commercial cookery qualification, such as Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent overseas qualification, is preferred.
- At least 2 years of relevant commercial cooking experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook food independently to recipe, quality and food-safety standards.
