Waku Waku is currently seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our dynamic team on a full-time, permanent basis. Located in the heart of Melbourne, our establishment is renowned for delivering exceptional dining experiences to our patrons. Role Summary:
As a Chef at Waku Waku, you will play a crucial role in the kitchen's operations, contributing to the preparation and presentation of our signature dishes. You will work closely with the culinary team to maintain high standards of food quality and hygiene, ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance with food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead kitchen staff, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
- Prepare and present high-quality dishes, ensuring consistency and excellence.
- Collaborate with the management team to manage inventory, control costs, and minimize waste.
- Train kitchen staff in proper cooking techniques, food safety, and hygiene standards.
- Maintain and monitor kitchen equipment to ensure functionality and compliance with safety standards.
- Keep up with industry trends and incorporate new techniques and ingredients into menu development.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.
- Handle special dietary requests while maintaining dish integrity.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages teamwork and creativity.
Experience & Qualifications
- At least 1 year of full-time experience as a Chef.
- Diploma in Hospitality Management or equivalent qualification.
- Strong understanding of diverse cooking techniques and food presentation.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Adaptability, flexibility, and a positive attitude in a rapid-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high culinary standards.
Working Hours: 38 hours per week
We offer a competitive salary above the award rate, with room for negotiation based on experience.
