The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to join a well established Australian consumer goods and retail business embarking on a significant growth journey.
Reporting directly to the CFO as the Finance 2IC, this role will play a critical part in strengthening the finance function, embedding robust controls and governance frameworks, and helping prepare the business for its next phase of expansion.
This is not simply a "steady-state" Financial Controller position. The successful candidate will join a business that is investing in growth and requires a hands on leader who can build capability, improve processes and drive financial discipline while supporting a fast paced and entrepreneurial operating environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial control, compliance and governance activities
- Oversee month end, year end and audit processes
- Manage treasury, cash flow forecasting and working capital outcomes
- Drive balance sheet integrity and financial reporting accuracy
- Strengthen internal controls, policies and finance processes
- Lead and develop the transactional finance team
- Partner with operational stakeholders across the business
- Support system, reporting and process improvement initiatives
- Contribute to strategic projects and business growth initiatives
About You
You are a commercially aware Financial Controller who enjoys operating in dynamic and evolving businesses. Comfortable rolling up your sleeves,
you have the ability to balance strong technical capability with a practical, solutions focused approach.
You will ideally possess:
- CA or CPA qualification
- Proven Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager experience
- Experience within retail, FMCG, consumer products or related industries
- Strong financial reporting, controls, governance and treasury capability
- Demonstrated success improving processes and building finance functions
- Strong people leadership skills and experience developing finance teams
- The ability to influence stakeholders and operate effectively in a growing business environment
- A proactive, adaptable mindset and willingness to drive positive change
