Our client is a growing group of specialist businesses backed by an international listed parent. We've been engaged to find their next Group Accountant as they continue to expand their finance function.
About the role:
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you'll take ownership of accounting for a portfolio of businesses within the group, with responsibility for month-end close, balance sheet integrity and management reporting. You'll also contribute to broader group finance activities, cross-train across other businesses in the group, and provide support and coverage where needed.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced accountant who enjoys owning the full accounting cycle and working across a diverse group of businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take primary accounting ownership for your allocated business(es)
- Own month-end close, management reporting and balance sheet integrity
- Work closely with transactional colleagues to oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
- Prepare budgets and forecasts
- Own business-level tax compliance, including BAS, FBT and payroll tax
- Coordinate audit requirements, including supporting schedules and audit requests
- Maintain strong financial controls and meet group reporting requirements
- Analyse financial results and provide clear commentary on performance
- Support working capital management — inventory, receivables, payables and cash flow
- Identify and implement improvements across finance processes and systems
- Cross-train across other businesses in the group to provide coverage and support
- Work collaboratively as part of a broader finance team
What We Are Looking For:
You bring:
- CA/CPA qualified, or working towards completion
- Strong financial and management accounting experience
- Experience managing month-end and balance sheet processes
- Sound knowledge of Australian tax and compliance requirements
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting
- Solid Excel and accounting systems capability
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, timely reporting
- A collaborative approach and willingness to support the wider finance team
- A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
