Hobart
Talent Advisory is recruiting on behalf of an established Hobart accounting practice seeking an experienced Accountant or Senior Bookkeeper to join its team.
This is a hands on role working with a diverse portfolio of predominantly small to medium business clients, with a strong focus on taxation, compliance and building genuine client relationships.
While our preference is to appoint an Accountant with public practice experience, we are also very interested in hearing from highly experienced Bookkeepers who have robust practice experience and can confidently manage their own portfolio of clients.
The role
Depending on your experience, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts and companies
- Preparing and lodging BAS, IAS and FBT returns
- Tax reconciliations and general compliance work
- Assisting clients with tax planning, structuring and business matters
- Managing client files and maintaining accurate financial records
- Liaising directly with clients and the ATO
- Working across Xero, MYOB, BGL and other accounting platforms
- Supporting clients with forecasting, budgeting and cash flow where required
- Identifying opportunities to improve client processes and financial outcomes
- Working collaboratively with the broader practice team
About you For Accountant applicants, we are ideally looking for:
- 3 to 5 years of accounting and taxation experience within public practice
- An accounting qualification
- A strong understanding of Australian taxation and ATO compliance requirements
- Experience working with small to medium business clients
- Strong Xero, MYOB, BGL or similar accounting software experience
- Confidence communicating directly with clients
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
CA, CPA or IPA qualifications, or progress towards them, would be well regarded but are not essential.
Experienced Bookkeepers will also be considered where you can demonstrate strong public practice experience across bookkeeping, BAS, payroll, superannuation, reconciliations and client portfolio management.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is reliable, accurate, comfortable taking ownership of their work and enjoys working directly with clients.
The opportunity
This is a permanent full time position with an established Hobart practice and a diverse client base.
Salary will be negotiated based on experience and capability.
There may be further flexibility for an exceptional candidate who can bring additional capability, revenue or an existing network to the practice.
All applications and enquiries will be managed confidentially by Talent Advisory.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake a National Police Check.
