About the role

We’re looking for a First Year Hairdressing Apprentice to join the team at Mario’s Hair Studio in Gladesville!

This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about hair, loves being creative and is excited to learn something new every day.

You’ll work alongside our experienced hairdressers in a friendly and supportive salon environment, learning everything from the basics through to more advanced hairdressing skills as you progress through your apprenticeship.

You’ll attend TAFE one day per week as part of your apprenticeship, with the rest of your time spent gaining valuable hands-on experience in the salon.

Saturday daytime availability and Thursday late-night availability are required.

Don’t worry if you’ve never worked in a salon before - no previous experience is required! We’ll provide the training, tools and support you need to get started and build your confidence.

Key responsibilities

As a first-year apprentice, you’ll learn and assist with all aspects of salon life, including:

- Assisting our hairdressers with day-to-day salon duties
- Greeting clients and helping create a friendly, welcoming experience
- Shampooing and conditioning clients’ hair
- Learning and assisting with blow-drying, styling and basic hair services
- Assisting with colour preparation and application under supervision
- Keeping the salon clean, tidy and organised
- Preparing and maintaining workstations, tools and equipment
- Learning and following salon hygiene, health and safety procedures




- Learning about different hair types, products and techniques
- Watching, learning and developing your skills alongside experienced hairdressers
- Most importantly, being willing to learn, ask questions and give things a go!
