Company Description Mairin OHS&E; Consulting Pty helps businesses across Australia address occupational health, safety, and environmental (OHSE) challenges in a practical and compliant manner. The company focuses on delivering cost-effective solutions that align with current regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Clients range from small enterprises to larger organisations seeking expert guidance on risk management and compliance. Team members collaborate closely with clients to identify hazards, implement controls, and improve workplace safety outcomes. The workplace culture values professionalism, problem-solving, and continuous improvement in OHSE practices.

Role Description The Asbestos Consultant will perform on-site asbestos inspections, risk assessments, and surveys at client locations in and around Victoria. This full time role includes collecting and coordinating samples for laboratory analysis, preparing clear and accurate reports, and advising clients on safe asbestos management, removal, and remediation strategies.

The consultant will interpret relevant legislation and codes of practice, ensure documentation meets regulatory standards, and assist clients with compliance planning. Daily work involves collaborating with business owners, site managers, and other stakeholders, providing practical recommendations that balance safety and cost effectiveness.

The role requires regular travel to client sites, adherence to strict safety protocols, and consistent record-keeping and follow-up.

Qualifications

- Formal training and certification in asbestos assessment and management, with demonstrated experience conducting asbestos surveys and risk assessments would be desired; however, not required.
- Strong knowledge of OHSE legislation, standards, and codes of practice relevant to asbestos and workplace safety in Australia.
- Ability to prepare concise, accurate technical reports, registers, and management plans, with solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working directly with clients to provide practical, cost-effective risk control recommendations and compliance guidance.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to make sound decisions in the field.
- Comfort working on-site in varied environments, including the ability to follow safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Proficiency with basic office software and digital tools for data entry, reporting, and documentation management.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites; previous consulting or field-based OHSE experience is highly regarded.
