About the role:

Working alongside the Business Controller, you will play a key role in the financial success of NPE. This exciting new position will see you partnering with operational leaders, delivering meaningful financial insights, supporting month-end and year-end reporting, and contributing to the continuous improvement of finance processes across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare, review and analyse monthly Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets and branch performance reports.
- Monitor project and contract profitability, identifying trends, risks and opportunities to improve business performance.
- Partner with Branch Managers, Regional Operations Managers and Sales Teams to investigate variances and provide commercial insights.
- Support the month-end reporting process, including journals, reconciliations, accruals and prepayments.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning activities.
- Coordinate financial reporting requirements and ensure compliance with internal and external reporting deadlines.




- Support year-end audit activities and liaise with auditors to provide accurate and timely information.
- Oversee cash management activities, bank reconciliations and company credit card administration.
- Support fixed asset management, including asset inductions, depreciation and disposals.
- Ensure compliance with GST, PAYG, FBT and other statutory reporting obligations.
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to members of the Finance Team to ensure productivity, accuracy and efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, process enhancements and internal control improvements across the finance function.
- Assist with internal audit findings, risk management initiatives and other finance-related projects as required.

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

- Minimum 10 years' experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business or Commerce.
- Solid understanding of financial reporting, management accounting and month-end processes.
- Proven experience preparing and reviewing financial reports, management accounts, Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP or financial systems.
- Strong reconciliation, analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.




- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the business.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and supporting team members in a positive and collaborative environment.
- Ability to work autonomously while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
- High level of professionalism with a strict commitment to confidentiality.

Desirable:

- CA or CPA qualification (or working towards completion).
- Experience within a multi-site, operational or project-based business environment.
- Experience with audit processes, budgeting and forecasting.
- Knowledge of AASB16 / IFRS16 lease accounting requirements.
