Cedar Bakery is a busy, established Lebanese café and bakery with a strong focus on great food, coffee and customer experience. Our Preston venue operates across multiple areas including floor service, coffee, pastry and kitchen, requiring a team that works together in a fast-paced environment.

We are looking for an experienced 2IC / Assistant Manager to work closely with and support our Manager in the day-to-day operation of the venue.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role.

Your main focus will be supporting the Manager, being present on the floor, helping coordinate the team and making sure each shift runs smoothly.

You won't be expected to take full responsibility for every management function. However, as the Manager's 2IC, you should have the experience, confidence and initiative to step up and handle different areas of the operation when required.

Key Responsibilities

Working alongside the Manager, you will:

- Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the venue across floor, coffee, pastry and kitchen.
- Be actively present on the floor, leading by example and supporting the team during service.
- Help coordinate staff and delegate tasks according to the needs of the shift.
- Support the training and development of team members and help maintain consistent service standards.
- Monitor customer service, food presentation, cleanliness and overall venue standards.
- Identify issues during service and take initiative to resolve them before they become bigger problems.
- Assist with customer concerns and complaints in a qualified and confident manner.
- Support stock control, ordering,



operational checks and basic administration when required.
- Help ensure food safety, hygiene and workplace procedures are consistently followed.
- Step into a leadership role and oversee the shift when the Manager is unavailable.

What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is experienced, hands-on and confident on the floor.

Ideally, you will have:

- Previous experience as a 2IC, Assistant Manager, Supervisor or experienced Team Leader in hospitality.
- Experience working in a busy café, restaurant or similar fast-paced environment.
- Strong people and communication skills.
- The confidence to guide and give direction to team members when required.
- The ability to multitask and understand what is happening across different areas of the venue.
- A proactive mindset — someone who sees what needs to be done and takes action.
- Strong customer service skills and confidence handling difficult situations.
- Good understanding of cleanliness, food safety and operational standards.
- The ability to remain organised and calm during busy periods.

What Success Looks Like A successful 2IC at Cedar is someone the Manager can rely on. You don't need to manage every aspect of the business yourself, but you should understand the operation well enough to support the Manager, guide the team, solve problems and confidently take charge when needed.

Pay: From $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15.0 – 30.0 per week
