- Salary range: o Level 5 $98,857 to $104,464 pro rata plus super (Building Surveying Technician or currently working towards qualification)
o Level 6 $106,239 to $114,402 pro rata plus super (Building Surveyor Level 2)
o Level 7 $116,991 to $123,985 pro rata plus super (Building Surveyor Level 1)

About this position The City is seeking a motivated and customer-focused qualified to join our Building Services team. Based at the City’s Civic Centre, this role plays an important part in ensuring building applications are assessed efficiently, accurately and in accordance with relevant legislation and standards.
As a Building Surveyor, you will assess building applications for compliance, prepare reports on a range of building matters, and provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders. You will also be relied upon to provide prompt, courteous information to the public in person or over the phone.
This role presents an excellent opportunity for an aspiring building professional to further develop their skills and experience, or for an experienced Building Surveyor seeking a part-time position within a supportive local government environment.
Salary for the successful candidate will be determined based on qualifications, registration status and experience, with appointment available at Level 5, 6 or 7.

- Proven expertise in the building industry
- Sound customer service skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and adhere to strict deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication and relationship-building with diverse stakeholders
- Sound analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Local Government experience is desirable, but not essential.
Essential requirements
- Relevant qualifications or accreditations (either Building Surveyor Technician or currently working towards this or Building Surveyor Level 1-2)
- Driver’s licence
- Current National Police Clearance (less than three months old) Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition
