Florent Building Surveyors located in the South of the state, with statewide service coverage, is a locally owned and operated building surveying practice, providing forensic building reporting and building surveying and compliance services across residential, commercial and civil construction throughout Tasmania. We have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, reliable advice and solutions to clients in the construction, development, property industries and government sectors.

We provide a full range of building surveying services, including mandatory stage inspections, compliance certification, defect investigations, expert witness reports and council contract surveying work and are now seeking a Building Surveyor or Building Surveyor Technician to join our team.

What you’ll be doing

- Conduct mandatory stage inspections during construction.
- Assess project documentation and liaise with clients, providing recommendations for compliance with the Building Act 2016 (Tas), Regulations, and the National Construction Code.
- Preparing Inspection Directions, Certificates of Likely Compliance, Certificates of Substantial Compliance, Occupancy Permits and Certificate of Completion.
- Advise on performance solutions where compliance is not possible, investigating alternative avenues for resolution.
- Prepare technical reports outlining compliance requirements and recommendations.
- Liaising with local authorities, architects,



and construction professionals to ensure projects meet all regulatory requirements.
- Staying up-to-date with changes in building legislation and best practices.

About You

- Building surveying accreditation (or ability to obtain), experience in the industry and knowledge of Australian building codes, regulations, and compliance standards.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively liaise with clients and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, well-organised and comfortable both on-site and preparing documentation.
- Current Tasmanian Class C driver’s licence.
