About the Role As Coordinator Asset Management and Capital Planning, you will lead the development of Council's annual and 10-year capital expenditure program, working closely with asset owners and service managers to drive evidence-based investment decisions. You will also lead the continuous improvement of Council's strategic asset management systems, data and practices — and build the capability of a team of asset management and capital planning professionals along the way.

Reporting to the Manager Assets and Capital, you will lead a small team (Asset Engineer and Asset Management & GIS Officer) and work across the organisation, with external contact spanning contractors, consultants, government departments and the community.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the planning, scoping and prioritisation of Council's annual and 10-year capital works program
- Oversee the currency and accuracy of Council's asset register, asset management systems and GIS integration
- Develop and review Council's Asset Management Plan, Road Management Plan and related strategic documents




- Manage operational and capital budgets, including monthly cash flow forecasting
- Report to Council's Asset Management and Capital Works Steering Committee, Audit and Risk Committee, and Council
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team
- Champion sound risk management, including Council's approach to climate-related asset risk

About You

- Degree qualified in engineering, with asset management qualifications
- Substantial experience in asset management with demonstrated leadership ability
- Proven track record developing capital works programs and communicating asset management concepts to senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in asset valuation, capitalisation and life-cycle costing
- Strong change leadership and team management capability
- Well-developed report writing skills, with the ability to present complex material to varied audiences
- Experience using asset management and asset modelling systems (capital renewal modelling, condition prediction)
- Current Victorian driver's licence
