Technical Lead, DB2 Tools

Location: Remote and onsite, with occasional travel to Canberra

Proposed Start: October 2026

Eligibility: Australian citizens only

Clearance: Federal Government security clearance preferred

About the Opportunity A leading technology services organisation is seeking an experienced Technical Lead specialising in DB2 for z/OS tools to support a major tools-conversion and implementation program within a Federal Government workplace.

Working as a key member of the program delivery team, you will lead technical requirements validation, solution design and conversion planning. You will also provide technical direction across implementation, testing, production cutover and post-implementation activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Review business and technical use cases.
- Lead technical requirements validation for the replacement of existing ISV tools.
- Support the planning and implementation of DB2 tools for z/OS.
- Develop solution designs aligned with program requirements.
- Provide technical direction throughout conversion and deployment.
- Advise on the testing strategy and overall testing approach.
- Contribute to implementation planning, with particular focus on production cutover.
- Assess impacts across people, processes and technology.
- Support risk and compliance management activities.
- Participate in post-implementation reviews.
- Develop appropriate reporting and performance metrics.
- Deliver technical training relating to the implemented tools.

Required Skills and Experience

- Demonstrated experience leading DB2 for z/OS tools-conversion initiatives.
- Strong expertise in DB2 for z/OS.




- In-depth knowledge of DB2 subsystem architecture and administration.
- Experience with DB2 utilities, including Load, Copy, Recover and Merge/Modify.
- Strong performance-tuning and SQL-optimisation skills.
- Knowledge of security, auditing and access-control requirements.
- Experience with backup, recovery and disaster-recovery processes.
- Thorough understanding of CA Log Analyzer for DB2 for z/OS.
- DBA experience using CA/Broadcom DB2 tools such as RC/Migrator, RC/Query, Detector or comparable products.
- Experience with IBM DB2 Administration Tool, DB2 Automation Expert or DB2 Tools Customizer for z/OS.
- Practical experience using Jira and ServiceNow.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide technical direction across a complex delivery program.

Desirable Experience

- Experience with IBM Z software products.
- Experience developing applications on IBM Z.
- Knowledge of COBOL or PL/I.
- Microsoft Office skills or relevant Word and PowerPoint certification.
