Embrace Orthodontists is an expanding specialist orthodontic practice with three locations across Canberra — Belconnen, Manuka and Gungahlin. We are looking for a passionate, motivated and patient-focused Dental Hygienist to join our growing team on a full-time basis.
This is a unique opportunity for a Hygienist who is interested in the clinical side of orthodontics.
You will work closely with our orthodontists and clinical team, and you generally will have an assigned Dental Assistant to support you during your clinical sessions, allowing you to focus on delivering excellent patient care.
About the role The role will involve a combination of orthodontic, patient education, clinical assisting and orthodontic record taking. You will work closely with our orthodontists and clinical team and play an important role throughout our patients' orthodontic journeys.
Key responsibilities
· Assist the orthodontist during procedures such as:
· Bonding and debonding (brackets and aligner attachments)
· Archwire changes
· Fitting separators and bands
· Placement of auxiliaries (e.g., elastics, hooks, powerchain)
· Take orthodontic records including:
· Intraoral scans
· Clinical photographs
· Cephalometric and panoramic radiographs (if qualified CBCT).
· Maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation.
About you
- Qualified and registered as a Dental Hygienist in Australia
- Interested in working specifically within orthodontics
- Confident working with children, teenagers and adults
- Friendly, empathetic and able to build strong relationships with patients
- Comfortable providing clear oral hygiene education and instructions
- Organised, reliable and attentive to detail
- Able to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment
- A strong team player who enjoys working closely with orthodontists and other clinical staff
- Previous orthodontic experience is highly recommended
