About the role
DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer at Kwela Solutions. You will own the infrastructure end-to-end — from AWS architecture to the tools the team uses to plan and ship work. You will have real autonomy and direct impact on reliability, cost, and how quick we can release.
Key responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain the AWS services that support Folio
- Apply security patches across infrastructure on a regular cadence
- Administer Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket for the engineering team
- Track system health using AWS monitoring tools and respond to issues
- Analyse AWS usage, right-size instances, and use reserved instances/savings plans to control cost
- Deploy new versions of Folio to sandbox and production environments
- Proactively identify and recommend improvements to uplift infrastructure reliability and availability,
and help drive them through to implementation
- Be available outside standard business hours — including some evenings and weekend hours — to support release windows and time-sensitive maintenance
- Own and maintain up-to-date infrastructure documentation, including architecture, configurations, and operational guides
- Train other members of the software development team on infrastructure setup and recovery procedures
