About the role The Director of Project Delivery is a key member of Nucleus Network's Project Delivery team, responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight and direction across the delivery of clinical trials. This role ensures the successful execution of clinical research projects through effective project governance, resource planning, stakeholder management and continuous process improvement. Working closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams, the Director of Project Delivery drives operational excellence, supports business growth, and ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable regulatory and quality requirements.
This role can be based in Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Provide strategic direction and leadership across project delivery functions to ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
- Contribute to the development and execution of business growth strategies.
- Establish and monitor departmental goals, performance metrics and operational plans.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and operational excellence.
Project Delivery & Operational Oversight
- Oversee the successful delivery of clinical trial projects, ensuring sponsor expectations and project objectives are achieved.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, quality metrics and operational performance.
- Oversee resource planning to ensure appropriate staffing and operational support across projects.
- Manage project risks, issues and escalations, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder & Client Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, clients and external stakeholders.
- Participate in client meetings and business development activities to support organisational growth.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless project planning and execution.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Oversee project financial performance, including budget management and forecasting.
- Monitor operational metrics and utilisation to support business objectives.
People Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop Project Managers, Clinical Research Coordinators and other project delivery personnel.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration and professional growth.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment and succession planning initiatives.
- Manage performance, development planning and capability building across the team.
Quality, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure project delivery activities comply with Nucleus Network procedures, ICH-GCP guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Champion quality initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
- Oversee investigations, corrective actions and process improvements within the department.
- Maintain a strong focus on participant safety, data integrity and regulatory compliance.
Skills & Experience:
- Extensive experience within clinical research, clinical trials, CRO, pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments.
- Significant leadership experience managing large, complex project portfolios or clinical trial programs.
- Strong knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven experience managing budgets, resources, timelines and operational performance.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
