About the Role

We are seeking passionate and experienced Domestic & Family Violence Workers and Specialist Workers to join our team in Ipswich.

We have a range of opportunities available across SCHADS Level 4 and Level 5, including full-time permanent and fixed-term contract positions.

Working within DVAC’s feminist and trauma-informed framework, you will provide holistic support to individuals experiencing domestic and family violence. Depending on the position, this may include risk assessment, safety planning, crisis intervention, advocacy, case management, counselling, court support, group work and referrals to appropriate services.

You will work collaboratively with clients, colleagues and key stakeholders to respond to immediate safety needs, support longer-term recovery and wellbeing, and contribute to coordinated responses that keep perpetrators in view and accountable.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive risk assessments, safety planning, crisis support, advocacy, information and referrals, both face-to-face and over the phone.
- Deliver trauma-informed domestic and family violence support tailored to the individual needs of clients.
- Undertake and participate in case coordination and case management.
- Provide flexible outreach support, including working with clients off-site, while working autonomously and ethically.
- Contribute to keeping perpetrators of family violence in view and accountable through appropriate information gathering and sharing with key agencies.




- Provide court support and advocacy services to women at designated Magistrates Courts within the DVAC catchment as required.
- Facilitate group work services in collaboration with other workers and external co-facilitators.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders and external agencies.
- Assess eligibility for Safety Upgrades brokerage, undertake home safety audits and refer eligible clients for brokerage where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate case notes, reports and data collection in accordance with DVAC procedures.
- Engage in reflective practice and professional supervision.
- Contribute to a protected, supportive and inclusive workplace while upholding DVAC’s feminist framework and commitment to social justice.

About You

- We are looking for candidates who are passionate about supporting people impacted by domestic and family violence and who bring a client-centred, trauma-informed approach to their work.
- Qualifications and experience requirements will vary depending on the position and SCHADS classification.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, human services, counselling or another related discipline.
- Relevant experience within the human services sector,



with post-graduate experience requirements applicable to specialist positions.
- Experience and skills in gender-based violence risk assessment, trauma-informed practice, safety planning, crisis support, DFV counselling, system advocacy and/or case management.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Sound IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems.
- Working knowledge of, or the ability to acquire an understanding of, the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and relevant court and legislative processes.
- Current driver’s licence and Blue Card.
- All DVAC staff are required to complete a National Police Check upon successful offer of employment.
