About the position

Alpine Shire Council (Council) is seeking a passionate and innovative Economic Development Officer (Tourism) to help showcase one of Victoria's most spectacular visitor destinations.

Working within the Economic Development team, this role is responsible for the effective marketing and promotion of the Alpine Shire's townships and tourism destinations. You will lead destination marketing initiatives, coordinate branding and promotional activities, build strong industry partnerships, and support tourism operators to enhance the region's profile and visitor experience.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative marketing professional who enjoys working collaboratively, delivering successful campaigns, and contributing to the ongoing growth of tourism across the Alpine Shire.

How you will make a difference

As the Economic Development Officer (Tourism), you will:

- Develop and implement destination marketing, branding and promotional campaigns that increase visitation across the Alpine Shire.

- Manage digital marketing activities, including content creation, social media and campaign performance reporting.

- Coordinate tourism marketing collateral including visitor guides, promotional materials, photography and video assets.

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with tourism operators, business associations, industry groups and key stakeholders.

- Work closely with Tourism North East and neighbouring municipalities to maximise exposure and promotional opportunities for the region.

- Deliver projects that support tourism industry development, skills enhancement and operator engagement.

- Manage tourism related budgets and provide regular reporting on campaign performance and outcomes.

- Support Council's economic development objectives through innovative tourism initiatives and destination promotion activities.

Our ideal candidate

You will bring

- Experience in marketing, destination marketing, tourism promotion or a related field.





- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver successful marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels.

- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and deadlines.

- Experience preparing and managing budgets and providing detailed reporting.

- Sound computer skills, particularly within Microsoft Office, social media platforms and content management systems.

- Strong problem-solving, decision-making and research skills.

- A current Victorian Driver Licence and Victorian Working with Children Check (or the ability to obtain one).

- Knowledge of the Alpine region and its tourism offerings will be highly regarded.

- Local government, tourism or economic development experience will also be highly regarded.

- Alpine Shire Council Enterprise Agreement: Band 6
- Band 6A Salary: commencing at $89,979 per year + Super + Annual Leave Loading
