Executive Officer (Business Services)

The Executive Officer (Business Services) plays a key role in supporting the Director of Business and Operations by providing high-level executive, governance, risk and compliance support. Working closely with senior leaders, this position helps coordinate Board and committee processes, strengthens regulatory compliance and risk management practices, and ensures the smooth and effective operation of executive administration across the School.

About TGS

Founded in 1875, TGS is a member school of the Great Public Schools Association of Queensland (GPS). It is an independent non-denominational day and boarding school for boys with a total enrolment of 1,100 from Preparatory to Year 12. There are approximately 300 boarders in the School coming predominantly from throughout Queensland, Northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory. The School’s campus covers 20.5 hectares and is located one kilometre from the centre of Toowoomba.

About the Position

Reporting to the Director of Business and Operations, this position requires a highly organised and professional individual with strong communication skills, sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information while building effective relationships with senior leaders, Trustees and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will possess tertiary qualifications in law, governance, risk, compliance, business administration, or demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.

Selection Criteria:

You will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitment to:

- Providing high-level executive and governance support within an organisation, including the preparation of professional reports, correspondence, briefing papers, Board or executive documentation.
- Supporting governance, risk,



compliance and legal processes while maintaining high standards of accuracy, confidentiality and professional judgement.
- Coordinating Board, committee or executive governance processes, including agenda preparation, minute taking, action tracking and governance administration.
- Managing competing priorities, deadlines, governance obligations and executive workflows in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality outcomes.
- Developing, maintaining and improving governance, compliance, policy and document control processes to support organisational effectiveness, oversight and regulatory compliance.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to research, analyse and prepare clear documentation to support decision-making, governance reporting, risk mitigation and compliance outcomes.
- Building positive and productive working relationships with senior leaders, staff, trustees and external stakeholders through excellent communication and collaboration.
- Working independently with initiative and sound judgement, while recognising when to seek guidance, escalate issues or consult with key stakeholders.
- Utilising advanced technology and administrative systems, including Microsoft Office, document management platforms and governance or compliance management tools, to deliver efficient and effective business support.
