You've seen the headlines. You've heard the hype.
The Reject Shop is now part of global retail giant Dollarama, and we're building something big.
2026 is set to be a huge year. Our store network is expanding, our customer experience is evolving, and we're growing towards 700 stores. Behind the scenes, our Store Support Centre is laying the foundations for this transformation, and our People & Culture team is right at the centre of it.
We're looking for an HR Operations Lead to run the day to day of our employee relations and industrial relations advisory team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, HR Operations, this is a hands-on leadership role supporting leaders across more than 415 stores, as well as four distribution centres, while leading and developing a small advisory team.
It's a role built for a strong advisor with a generalist background who's ready to step up. You'll carry the complex matters yourself, lead two Employee Relations Advisors, and have real influence over how HR support is delivered as the business grows.
This role is based in our Kensington Store Support Centre.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the Employee Relations and Industrial Relations advisory service, delivering timely, consistent and legally sound advice on misconduct, performance, grievances, probation and everything in between, through a tiered model with clear response standards and escalation pathways.
- Preparing the process with leaders, including documentation, scripts and correspondence, so matters are run consistently and defensibly while leaders own the conversation and the decision.
- Holding outcome accountability for internal risk and investigations, including matters arising from Safety & Asset Protection activity,
and maintaining procedural fairness and robust investigation standards.
- Managing the employee relations and investigations processes delivered through our BPO partner in El Salvador, setting the standard, reviewing quality and holding the service metrics.
- Identifying trends by site, region, leader and root cause, then agreeing corrective action with Operations, Partnering, Safety & Asset Protection or Payroll and tracking it to completion.
- Providing industrial relations support, including Enterprise Agreement and Award interpretation, bargaining support, distribution centre change, and day-to-day engagement with unions and employee representatives.
- Delivering project work across HR Operations, including process redesign, policy and template refreshes, systems and reporting changes, and initiatives supporting the transition to Dollarama Australia.
- Leading and developing the advisory team, building capability and consistency of advice across states.
What you'll bring
- Solid ER and IR experience in a multi-site environment, ideally retail, hospitality or another award-covered industry.
- Confidence interpreting Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements, and managing claims through the Fair Work Commission.
- A generalist HR background,
with experience across the employee lifecycle rather than solely employee relations.
- Genuine stakeholder management capability, with the ability to influence, challenge and support operational leaders while keeping the relationship strong.
- Experience leading, coaching or developing others, or readiness to take that step with support.
- A head for detail and consistency, and an interest in the metrics behind the work: case open times, process compliance, quality and service performance.
- Comfort working within ambiguity and change, with the flexibility to help shape a function that continues to evolve.
What we can offer you
- A role with real scope, in a function being rebuilt rather than maintained.
- A genuine step up, with exposure to bargaining, executive stakeholders, offshore service delivery and national projects that's hard to get in a narrower ER role.
- Inclusive and collaborative team culture.
- A flat, fast-paced business where every idea matters.
- Hybrid work model.
- Team Member discount of 15% for you.
- Paid parental leave for primary and secondary caregivers.
- Employee Assistance Program, free and confidential support for you and your family.
- Ongoing opportunities to learn, develop and grow your career as we continue to expand.
This is more than an HR Operations role. It's an chance to help shape the future of our People & Culture function as we transition to Dollarama Australia. You'll support leaders through complex people matters, lift how we deliver HR advisory services, and help build the foundations for our growth from 400 stores to 700.
Ready to own it and do it? Apply now and be part of something big.
