Wakefield Eye Care is a specialist Ophthalmology practice currently seeking a friendly, reliable Eye Technicianwith a passion for patient care and strong communication skills to join our team on a casual basis, with the opportunity to convert to permanent part time once established.

About the role

This is a predominantly clinical role combining ophthalmic testing and patient preparation with medical reception and administrative duties. The role will suit someone who enjoys working directly with patients.

You will work closely with ophthalmologists and the administrative team to provide excellent patient care and help ensure clinics run smoothly and efficiently. As a member of a small team, there will also be an element of reception/administrative work.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working with patients and is happy to be part of a friendly, professional team.

This role is approx 20-30 hours per week. The availability to cover annual leave and sick leave is essential. Must be flexible for early starts and/or late finishes. You may also be required to work at our Modbury clinic on occasion.

Your main responsibilities

Performing and assisting with ophthalmic diagnostic testing, including:

- Visual acuity (VA),
- Optical coherence tomography (OCT),
- Humphrey Field Analyzer (HFA)
- Administering eye drops




- Maintaining clinic room standards and supporting efficient patient flow
- Monitoring clinical stock levels
- Assisting with general practice administration and day-to-day tasks including filing and patient list preparation
- Providing some reception support, including answering phones, welcoming patients and assisting with appointments

About you

Ideally you will have

- Previous experience performing ophthalmic diagnostic testing or working in optical is desired, or a strong willingness and ability to learn
- A warm, professional and caring approach to patient care and the ability to work collaboratively with people of all ages and backgrounds
- Strong organisation, time management and attention to detail when working in a busy, quick-pace environment
- Reliability, initiative and a proactive, can-do attitude, with the ability to work independently once familiar with the expectations of the role
- Flexibility to work casual shifts, including early starts and/or later finishes, and the ability to cover other staff shifts at short notice
