Field Service Technician – Autonomy Solutions

At Aptella, we deliver intelligent positioning, automation and technology solutions that help customers work smarter, safer and more efficiently across mining, construction and heavy industry. We’re looking for a technically capable and hands-on Field Service Technician – Autonomy Solutions to support the installation, commissioning and ongoing performance of advanced autonomy and remote-control technology across customer sites.
The Role
This is a specialist field-based role working with autonomous, remote-control, machine-control, positioning, communications and software systems. You’ll install, commission, configure and troubleshoot technology in the field, support site network deployment and calibration, and provide practical technical guidance and training to customers.
You’ll also be involved in new and emerging autonomy solutions as Aptella continues to expand its technology portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
- Install, commission and configure autonomy and remote-control systems
- Diagnose faults across electrical, network, software and workflow environments
- Perform preventative maintenance, calibration and software/firmware updates
- Support site communications, positioning and network deployment
- Deliver customer training, handover and technical support
- Work with customers and internal teams to complete projects safely and to scope
- Identify and escalate site readiness, technical or delivery risks
- Maintain accurate service records and technical documentation
- Provide feedback on recurring issues and opportunities for product improvement
- Travel nationally to customer and project sites as required
About You
You’re technically curious, practical and comfortable working in challenging field environments. You enjoy fault-finding,
working with complex systems and getting hands-on with technology in real-world applications.
You bring
- Experience in a technical, field service, machine control, auto electrical, survey, communications or similar environment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Confidence reading technical schematics and following installation drawings
- Good computer literacy and confidence working with software and diagnostic systems
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and remotely when required
- Current unrestricted Driver’s Licence
- Construction White Card
- Willingness to travel nationally and work on remote sites and approved rosters
A recognised trade qualification is preferred but not essential. Experience across survey, machine control, auto electrical or related technical environments will be highly regarded. HR Licence, EWP and Working at Heights qualifications will also be advantageous.
