Senior Civil Engineer – Buildings & Urban Civil Sydney CBD | Landmark Projects | Global Consultancy | $120k–$180k + Super (DOE)
An outstanding opportunity is available for an accomplished Senior Civil Engineer to join the expanding Sydney Buildings team of a highly regarded global engineering consultancy.
The business is on an exciting growth trajectory in Sydney, supported by recent major project wins, a respected leadership team and the resources and reach of a substantial international organisation.
This position will suit a self-motivated engineer who can independently manage civil projects and take ownership of delivery, clients and multidisciplinary coordination. Approximately 10 years’ experience would be ideal, although candidates with anywhere from 7 to 20 years’ experience will be considered—provided they are already operating at a genuine senior level and can confidently run projects.
The Opportunity Sitting within the Buildings team, you will lead the civil engineering components of major building and urban development projects, working alongside accomplished structural, façade and building services professionals.
The project portfolio includes:
- Major commercial and mixed-use developments
- High-rise residential projects
- Healthcare and education facilities
- Industrial and data centre developments
- Public-sector and local government projects
- Public-domain and urban-renewal works
- Associated drainage, earthworks, roads, pavements and utilities
This is a hands-on senior role offering considerable autonomy.
You will manage projects from concept through detailed design and delivery while building strong relationships with clients, architects, authorities and other project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the civil design and delivery of building-related and urban civil projects
- Take ownership of project scope, programme, budget and technical outcomes
- Deliver and oversee stormwater, drainage, earthworks, roads, pavements and utility designs
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations and design documentation
- Coordinate civil works with structural, architectural and building services disciplines
- Manage relationships with clients, councils, authorities and external stakeholders
- Identify project risks and provide practical, commercially considered solutions
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, designers and drafters
- Assist with proposals, fee preparation and broader client development
- Help maintain consistently high technical and project-delivery standards
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Approximately 7–20 years of civil engineering experience, ideally around the 10-year level
- Substantial experience gained within the Australian consulting environment
- A proven ability to independently lead and deliver projects
- Strong experience in civil works associated with buildings and urban development
- Sound technical knowledge across stormwater, drainage, earthworks, pavements and utilities
- Experience with 12d, Civil 3D, DRAINS, MUSIC and/or AutoCAD would be advantageous
- Confident client, stakeholder and multidisciplinary coordination skills
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project budgets and programmes
- A proactive, self-starting approach and the ability to create momentum
- An interest in mentoring others and contributing to the continued growth of the team
