About Geosurv
Join one of Australia’s fastest-growing and reputable surveying, geospatial and utilities businesses and play a key role in supporting our next stage of growth.
Geosurv is a Sydney-based business delivering Surveying, Geospatial and Utilities services across major infrastructure, construction and development projects throughout NSW.
Our business operates across multiple entities and service lines, with a growing team delivering projects across some of NSW’s largest infrastructure, transport, healthcare, construction and development projects.
As the business continues to grow, we are strengthening our finance function and are looking for an experienced Group Financial Controller to take ownership of financial control, reporting and governance across the Group.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on Group Financial Controller role for an experienced finance skilled who thrives in a genuinely fast-paced environment and wants to play a meaningful role in a growing business.
Working closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, you will take ownership of the Group’s finance function, providing strong financial oversight while ensuring the business has accurate, timely and meaningful financial information to support decision-making.
This is not a role for someone who wants to sit purely at a reporting level. You will be comfortable getting into the detail when required, while also stepping back to understand what the numbers are telling us and where the business needs to focus.
You will oversee financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow, financial controls, compliance and the ongoing development of our finance processes and systems.
Importantly, you will work closely with operational and divisional leaders to strengthen financial accountability, improve visibility of business performance and ensure appropriate financial disciplines are maintained as the Group continues to scale.
What You Will Be Responsible For:
As Group Financial Controller,
you will take ownership of:
- Group financial reporting, including timely and accurate monthly management accounts
- Consolidated reporting across two entities and business divisions
- Month-end and year-end processes, reconciliations and financial close
- Group budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning
- Cash flow forecasting, working capital management and overall cash visibility
- Balance sheet integrity and financial controls
- Management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and transactional finance activities
- Tax, statutory and regulatory compliance requirements, working with external advisers where required
- Audit preparation and management of external audit requirements
- Maintaining and strengthening financial policies, procedures, delegations and internal controls
- Providing financial analysis and insight to the Managing Director and senior leadership team
- Partnering with divisional finance and operational leaders to ensure accurate reporting and financial accountability
- Reviewing financial performance and identifying emerging risks, trends and areas requiring management attention
- Supporting investment, capital expenditure and other key business decisions with financial analysis and modelling
- Improving finance systems, reporting, processes and automation as the business grows
What We are Looking For We are looking for an experienced finance leader who combines strong technical capability with commercial judgement and a practical, hands-on approach.
You will ideally have
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller,
Group Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance role
- Experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure, professional services, utilities or another project-based environment
- CA or CPA qualification and a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting capability
- Strong knowledge of month-end, balance sheet management, cash flow, budgeting and forecasting
- Experience overseeing AP, AR, payroll and broader transactional finance functions
- Strong understanding of financial controls, statutory compliance and audit requirements
- Experience improving finance systems, reporting and processes
- Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger commercial picture
- The confidence to challenge information, ask questions and identify issues before they become problems
Most importantly, you will be someone who takes ownership. You will not simply produce a set of accounts each month. You will want to understand the business behind the numbers, strengthen the way finance operates and ensure the organisation has the financial information, controls and disciplines required to support continued growth.
Why Geosurv?
You will be joining a growing Australian business at an exciting stage of its development.
This role provides genuine exposure to the leadership and operation of the business. You will work directly alongside the Managing Director and senior leadership team, with the opportunity to make a noticeable difference to how Geosurv manages its financial performance, reporting and decision-making as the business continues to grow.
If you are an experienced finance leader who enjoys taking ownership, getting into the detail, improving the way things are done and providing the financial insight and discipline that helps a growing business perform, we would love to hear from you.
