Innisfail State College was established in 2010, bringing together the former Innisfail State High School, Innisfail Inclusive Education Centre and the Innisfail campus of Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE to form the integrated campus of Innisfail State College. The college occupies the site of the former Innisfail campus of TAFE, encompassing 26.5 hectares. Secondary students from years 7 to 12, Diverse Learning Centre students (pre-prep to Yr 12) and TAFE students share all facilities in the integrated campus.
On campus, we have an enrolment of around 1000 students in the high school and 40 students in the diverse learning centre. One-third of our students bring the added richness of indigeneity to our college, and this is celebrated amongst a broader diversity in the student body. Our students are supported by a strong student support staff comprising guidance officers, youth support co-ordinators, heads of years, a community education counsellor, a transition pathways officer, a chaplain, a Headspace counsellor, and a school based youth health nurse.
Our Innisfail State College
Elders provide a robust presence and contribution in the high school, sharing their time and wisdom with all staff and students who seek it. We also benefit from the attendance of our school's therapy dog, Lollie.
