- 6 month role
- Brisbane CBD based

Our Queensland Government client is seeking an experienced health and wellbeing professional to lead and continuously improve enterprise-wide programs that protect worker health and support a safe, healthy and productive workforce. This is a specialist technical and advisory position with no direct reports. Success in the role is achieved through subject matter expertise, influence, stakeholder engagement and the development of practical business-wide solutions, rather than people management. The role works closely with operational leaders, health and safety professionals, occupational hygiene specialists and external service providers across the organisation.

The position provides specialist leadership and advice across worker health, fitness for work, psychosocial wellbeing and hazardous exposures within a workforce of approximately 1,300 employees, supported by significant labour hire and subcontractor workforces operating across Queensland.

The role is responsible for leading and supporting initiatives across:

- Health monitoring and health surveillance programs, including governance, implementation, oversight and contractor management.
- Fitness for work programs, including fatigue management, drug and alcohol management, and related assurance activities.
- Psychosocial risk management and worker wellbeing initiatives.
- Hazardous exposure management, including lead, respirable crystalline silica, asbestos, noise and chemical exposures.
- Exposure monitoring programs and associated health-related training.

- Development and review of policies, standards, procedures, guidance materials and governance frameworks.
- Identification, development and implementation of practical business-wide solutions to health and wellbeing challenges.
- Provision of specialist advice to operational and corporate stakeholders across RoadTek.

What We Are Looking For A highly experienced professional who can operate independently and deliver outcomes with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will be capable of taking ownership of complex health and wellbeing issues, engaging with stakeholders, applying sound technical expertise and delivering practical solutions.

Preferred experience includes:

- More than five years' experience in health, occupational hygiene, workplace wellbeing, health and safety or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing legislated health monitoring and health surveillance programs.
- Solid experience implementing and managing fit-for-work programs, including fatigue and drug and alcohol management.
- Strong experience leading psychosocial risk management programs and workplace wellbeing initiatives.
- Experience developing enterprise-level frameworks, systems, standards,

procedures and improvement programs.
- Experience managing health risks associated with hazardous substances and hazardous exposures.
- Experience within construction, civil construction, transport, infrastructure, utilities, resources, rail or other comparable high-risk industries.
- Ability to work effectively with operational teams while translating technical requirements into practical business outcomes.

Why This Role Is Different This role was intentionally established to provide specialist expertise in areas where organisations often struggle to find experienced practitioners. The primary focus is on:

1. Health monitoring and health surveillance.
2. Fitness for work, including fatigue and drug and alcohol management.
3. Psychosocial risk management and worker wellbeing.
4. Hazardous exposure management, monitoring and training.

This is an opportunity for an experienced health and wellbeing professional to shape worker health outcomes across one of Queensland's largest civil construction and maintenance businesses. The role is best suited to someone who enjoys solving complex problems, influencing organisational change and leading specialised programs through expertise rather than through direct people management. It is a senior specialist role with broad organisational influence, enterprise-wide scope and no direct reports. Closing Date: 23 September 2026
