Who is Terra Rosa Consulting?

Terra Rosa Consulting has been working closely with Traditional Owners for the last 16 years in Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland, and most recently, South Australia. Our multidisciplinary team specialise in Archaeology and Anthropology services, environmental management, mapping and GIS, and support for Prescribed Body Corporates (PBCs) and Traditional Owner corporations.

About the Role

We're seeking a range of experienced Archaeologists, Anthropologists, or Heritage Consultants to join our team at Terra Rosa on a casual basis.

This is a FIFO/DIDO role, with fieldwork being a significant part of the role. Most of the fieldwork is undertaken across Western Australia, with opportunities to work on projects in other parts of Australia from time to time. It is suited to those who are confident working across a variety of projects, comfortable spending regular periods away from home, and are able to adapt to the changing demands of project-based work.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct and where appropriate lead ethnographic and/or archaeological fieldwork, heritage surveys, on-country assessments, site inspections, and Traditional Owner consultation.
- Record and assess cultural heritage sites using industry-standard methodologies and digital field equipment.
- Collect, interpret and document field data, oral histories and cultural values sensitively and accurately.
- Facilitate respectful engagement with Traditional Owners during fieldwork, consultation meetings, briefings and workshops.
- Draft, review and finalise high-quality heritage reports, consultation records and other project documentation.
- Undertake desktop research to support heritage assessments and project planning.
- Support assessments of potential project impacts on cultural values, connection to Country, cultural landscapes and social surroundings.
- Assist with heritage permits,



regulatory documentation and submissions where required.
- Work within relevant Aboriginal heritage, environmental, WHS and other applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with field teams, project staff, clients, proponents, Traditional Owners, and community stakeholders to meet project scopes, timelines and cultural expectations.
- Contribute to project preparation, field logistics, data management and post-fieldwork deliverables.
- Support the professional development and capability of colleagues and community members participating in heritage work.
- Maintain Terra Rosa's standards for cultural integrity, safety, professionalism and quality throughout project delivery.

About You You're someone who is comfortable moving between Country, community and the office. You understand that heritage work is about more than completing a survey or producing a report. It requires listening, building relationships, understanding cultural protocols, working collaboratively and ensuring Traditional Owner perspectives remain central to the work being undertaken.

You're confident working in regional and remote environments and can adapt when field conditions, project requirements or schedules change. Back in the office, you can turn field information into transparent, accurate and professional documentation.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

- Tertiary qualifications in Archaeology, Anthropology, Cultural Heritage or relevant discipline.
- Experience undertaking archaeological, anthropological,



ethnographic and/or cultural heritage fieldwork.
- Demonstrated experience working with Traditional Owners, Elders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Strong understanding of cultural protocols and culturally appropriate consultation and engagement.
- Strong report writing, research, and documentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to undertake regular regional and remote fieldwork, including trips of up to approximately two weeks at a time.
- Current Australian driver's licence.
- Current First aid certification.
- Demonstrated understanding of WA heritage legislation.

Desirable:

- Experience leading or taking increased responsibility during fieldwork.
- Experience preparing or reviewing heritage assessment reports and recommendations.
- Experience with heritage regulatory approvals, permits and associated documentation.
- Experience in social and cultural impact assessment or social surroundings assessments.
- Experience working with PBCs, Native Title groups or Traditional Owner corporations.
- 4WD certification.
