About Simm Group
Simm Group is a privately owned company encompassing a large and diverse number of businesses and assets throughout Western Australia and overseas. The core businesses include Northfleet, the largest fleet provider in the Pilbara; Running with Thieves, a boutique brewery and distillery in Fremantle and Henderson; Salt and Oak, a refined whisky bar and coastal eatery in Perth; and Tanah Mympi, a luxury private island resort in Indonesia — alongside various motor vehicle, real estate and other asset holdings
We are growing quickly, and our venues depend on technology that simply works. When a point of sale goes down, service stops. This role exists to make sure that does not happen.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead technology across the Group’s hospitality, lifestyle and asset businesses. You will own the IT strategy for these businesses and be accountable for delivering it — managing the systems our venues trade on, the infrastructure behind them, and the security and compliance that protect them.
This is a senior role with real ownership, but not an isolated one. A shared IT services team supports the whole Group, and you will direct their work for your businesses. Group-wide architecture and standards are set with the Head of IT, and you are accountable for implementing and maintaining them across your venues.
It is also a role that gets out of the office. Our venues are operating businesses with real trading pressure, and the people who do well here are the ones who understand how a venue runs before they change the technology in it.
Key Responsibilities
IT strategy and leadership
- Develop and implement an IT strategy aligned with Simm Group growth plans
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation,
integration and AI
- Own and manage the IT budget for the businesses in scope
- Act as the trusted technology adviser to venue managers and business leaders
Systems and applications management
- Oversee and optimise the business-critical systems across all venues, including:
1. Point of sale systems (OrderMate, Lightspeed, H&L; or similar)
2. Reservations and guest platforms (SevenRooms, OpenTable, NowBookIt or similar)
3. Finance and ERP platforms (Xero, MYOB, NetSuite or similar)
4. Collaboration tools (Microsoft 365, Teams and SharePoint)
- Oversee device endpoint management and endpoint security
- Drive genuine adoption of the systems we already pay for, before we buy more
Infrastructure and security
- Manage network infrastructure across venues — guest and staff Wi-Fi, point of sale networks and cloud environments
- Maintain cybersecurity frameworks across your businesses, including data protection and incident response
- Oversee backups, disaster recovery and business continuity planning for the venues in scope
- Protect customer and payment data, and meet the Group’s privacy obligations
Operational IT support
- Lead and direct IT support across all locations, working through the shared services team
- Ensure quick resolution of system outages impacting venue operations, with a clear escalation path out of hours
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts and service providers, including commercial negotiation
Projects and implementation
- Lead system rollouts, venue openings, refits and upgrades
- Manage timelines, budgets and stakeholder expectations
- Bring each initiative back to the business as a costed case before money is committed
Who we're looking for
You are a commercially minded IT professional with strong operational capability and the ability to work across multiple business units.
Essential Criteria
- At least 10 years’ experience in IT, including several years in an IT Manager or equivalent senior role
- Experience working with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365)
- Sound knowledge of cybersecurity best practice, and experience maintaining a security framework in practice
- Vendor and stakeholder management experience, including commercial and contract negotiation
- Experience owning an IT budget and building costed business cases
- Experience supporting a multi-site operating business
- The judgement to prioritise when several businesses want something at once
- A current driver’s licence and the flexibility to travel to venues within WA
Desirable
- Experience supporting multi-site hospitality, retail or similar environments
- Hands-on familiarity with point of sale and reservation platforms
- Experience supporting an international site, or operating across time zones
- An interest in using AI and automation to take manual work out of a busines
If this sounds like the role for you, please include a cover letter with your application, that tells us more about yourself and why you are interested in the position.
