About us

We are an established company within the construction industry, with a team of approximately 60 people. As part of our continued growth, we have made a deliberate strategic decision to bring our IT operations in-house. This move reflects our commitment to strengthening our internal capabilities, improving control and responsiveness, and ensuring our technology environment continues to evolve alongside the needs of our business.

About the role

You will be our in-house IT person, reporting directly to the Business Manager, with a contracted Managed Service Provider (MSP) behind you handling security, cybersecurity, hosting, cloud and domain management. Your job is to run everything on our side — from supporting internal stakeholders to managing projects and overseeing everything else in between such as licensing access, MSP management, equipment and assets.

A key priority within your first six months will be to assess our current environment, identify the changes required to achieve Essential 8 Maturity Level 2 (ML2), and lead the implementation of those changes. This project will also position the business to pursue membership in the Australian Government's Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) as a Level 1 – Protected supplier.

The standard working hours for the role are 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. The position will require occasional travel to Sydney and interstate as business requirements dictate.

As our operations commence from 5:30am, you will also be required to maintain availability from 5:30am should our early-starting team require urgent IT support.

This does not necessarily mean working from 5:30am each day, but you will need to be contactable and able to respond when required.

What you’ll be doing

- Acting as the first point of contact for IT support across the business
- Managing our MSP relationship — holding them to service levels, interrogating quotes and scopes, and making sure we get what we pay for
- Managing user profiles, accounts, access and permissions, including staff onboarding and offboarding
- Owning software licensing, IT purchasing, equipment setup and the asset register
- Building reports, dashboards and automated workflows that give management visibility
- Developing and administering SharePoint, websites and portals
- Finding where AI tools can genuinely take work off people’s hands — and integrating them where they stack up

What we’re looking for

- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a similar role
- Sound knowledge of Essential 8 Framework (ML2 Minimum)
- Hands on MSP management experience
- ITIL 4 Foundation or ITL 4 Managing Professional (Desirable)
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
- MS-900 (Microsoft 365 Fundamentals)
- CompTIA Security
- Australian Citizen due to Security Clearance requirement

What's in it for you?

- $120,000 – $140,000 + superannuation, depending on experience
- Full ownership of the IT function — your decisions, your systems, your roadmap
- Opportunity to make a real difference in an reputable company
- Enjoyable workplace with regular BBQs and team-based events

How to apply Please send through your resume as applicants are being reviewed immediately.
