Estate First Lawyers is a specialist law firm with a focus on high level estate planning and estate administration law (we do not do estate litigation). The firm has a strong reputation, with 3 accredited specialists in succession law (out of 36 in QLD) on the team and recognition in ‘Best Lawyers’ and ‘Doyles’ guide over multiple consecutive years.

This is a specialised practice, so the mentoring/training, precedents and systems are that of a top tier firm.

Due to our continued growth, we are looking to add an Estate lawyer to our team of 12 lawyers and 14 support staff.

About the role

You will be providing the full range of estate planning services, from drafting and advising on Wills (mostly including testamentary trusts ranging from standard trusts to protective and special disability trusts), to estate planning for superannuation (including SMSFs), family trusts and companies, tax and blended family strategies. There is also an opportunity to work on estate administration matters.

Your work will be tailored to your experience level but will be designed to provide you with the opportunity to grow and hone your expertise.

You will have the assistance of a paralegal and access to comprehensive precedents and specialist lawyers to run things by. You are given autonomy to manage your own files and will have a budget. There is no pressure for you to bring in your own work or secure your own appointments,



as the firm has plenty of quality clients and a dedicated client liaison team that schedule appointments.

The position is full time or 4 days a week (if required), and there is some flexibility in terms of work times and work from home depending on your experience level.

What skills do I need?

- Experience in the wills and estates area (preferred) or within the commercial/property area - a minimum of 2 years PAE is required. Mid to senior practitioners are welcome to apply.
- High level organisational skills and a proactive, ‘can do’ approach
- Robust drafting skills and eye for detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to clients
- Ability to think creatively and problem solve
- A team-oriented, team approach
- An equal enjoyment of client interaction and doing the technical work
