Role Description
Jovian Services is seeking an experienced Lead Network Engineer for a network infrastructure project in Australia.
This is a contract, in office role based in Sydney responsible for leading the design, implementation, migration, testing, and optimisation of network infrastructure across enterprise and operational environments.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle and work closely with client stakeholders, project teams, vendors, and delivery partners to ensure network solutions are secure, resilient, reliable, and fit for purpose.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Network Engineering and Network Design, with experience architecting scalable and resilient network solutions.
- Proficiency in Network Administration and Troubleshooting to maintain, monitor, and resolve issues across complex environments.
- Knowledge of Network Security, including firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and best practices for securing critical infrastructure.
- Experience with enterprise networking technologies (e.g., routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN)
and relevant vendor platforms.
- Ability to lead projects, mentor team members, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, CISSP) and experience in IT/OT convergence or industrial environments are beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise and OT network solutions.
- Develop network architectures, detailed designs, standards, configurations, and technical documentation.
- Configure and support routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, and access controls.
- Troubleshoot complex network, performance, connectivity, and security issues.
- Plan and coordinate upgrades, migrations, testing, cutovers, commissioning, and rollback activities.
- Manage technical risks, dependencies, interfaces, and changes across project workstreams.
- Provide technical guidance and design assurance to engineers and delivery teams.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, quality, operational,
and project governance requirements.
- Support documentation, handover, and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience in network engineering, architecture, and design within complex environments.
- Strong hands-on expertise in routing, switching, wireless, network security, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated experience delivering secure, scalable, resilient, and highly available network solutions.
- Practical experience with Cisco and Fortinet technologies, or other platforms directly relevant to the project environment.
- Proven experience delivering network upgrades, migrations, infrastructure refreshes, or transformation projects.
- Ability to lead technical workstreams and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong documentation, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, mining, energy, utilities, or critical infrastructure environments is highly regarded.
- Knowledge of IT/OT integration, industrial network segmentation, or IEC 62443 is advantageous.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, Fortinet, or CISSP are desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Additional Requirements
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Availability to work on-site in Sydney.
- Flexibility to support planned cutovers outside standard business hours when required.
