The Fridays@1 Program aims to build knowledge and thinking skills, and support our students’ development as informed, ethical, engaged citizens, professionals and community leaders of the future. The role will provide Ormondians with an informal prospect to learn about issues in the news and local stories of interest, and to engage in discussion around real-life ethics and problem solving. A fair and respectful time should be given to all political and values perspectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic communication about Fridays@1 to all Ormondians to maximise participation
- Delivering a conversation series that develops participants’ knowledge and thinking skills around current issues
- Delivering conversations that effectively promote social responsibility and ethical thought
- Once a semester, including discussion of a relevant Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander topic, open for attendance by all students and staff members
- Delivering conversations that are fair to all points of view, including those that might be unpopular or unconventional
- Assisting the Student Life Team with promoting events on Circle and other platforms
- Attending relevant meetings, learning activities and training
- Ensuring administrative and communication processes are followed appropriately
- Other duties as directed by Leadership
Eligibility
Applicants must be 18 years or older and 2nd or 3rd year Ormond residential student in 2027. Successful applicants will also need to hold or obtain a Working with Children Check (Employee) and complete a GBV declaration if successful. Students may hold a maximum of 2 casual Ormond roles at one time.
