Dixie and Thyme Counselling is a small mental health practice based in Tamworth. We focus on providing accessible, client-centered support to individuals aged 12-30 years, couples, and families in the local community. Services are delivered in a professional, confidential setting that emphasises respect, collaboration, and evidence-based care.

About the role The Mental Health Clinician (social worker, psychologist, or counsellor) will provide direct, face-to-face and telehealth counselling and therapeutic support to clients ages 12-30 years old, couples and families.

Key responsibilities

- Conduct psychosocial and clinical assessments which will include an array of psychometric tools

- Develop and implement individualised treatment plans

- Deliver evidence-based interventions in line with best practice standards and Medicare's Focused Psychological Strategies

- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and clinical notes

- Coordinate care with other health and community providers





- Participate in case reviews and supervision

- Contribute to risk assessment and safety planning

- Engage in ongoing career development

About you

- Demonstrated knowledge and practice in a range of mental health settings with a focus on the wellbeing of young people aged 12-30 years, couples and families

- Experience applying evidence-based therapeutic approaches that align with Medicare's list of focused psychological strategies such as: CBT, ACT, DBT, and EMDR.

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related mental health discipline, with eligibility for professional registration or membership (e.g., AASW, APS, PACFA, ACA or equivalent)

- Proven ability to build rapport with diverse clients, maintain professional boundaries, and manage sensitive or high-risk situations appropriately

- Excellent communication, documentation, and time management skills, including competence in electronic record systems

- Commitment to ethical practice, cultural safety, as well as neuro-affirming and trauma-informed care, including working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and diverse communities

- Willingness to participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development

- Current working with children check, national police check, NDIS check, and current first aid certificate.
