Role Description This is a full-time role based in Bayswater.
The Mobile Plant
Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing faults on a range of mobile and heavy plant equipment, both in the workshop and at client sites. Day-to-day tasks include performing scheduled servicing, conducting preventive maintenance, completing breakdown and field repairs, and documenting all work performed in service reports. The role involves using diagnostic tools, reading technical manuals, and collaborating with supervisors and operators to identify issues and plan repairs.
The Mobile Plant
Mechanic is expected to follow all safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area,
and support continuous improvement in maintenance practices.
Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Diesel Fitter, Heavy Duty Mechanic) and demonstrated experience working on mobile or heavy plant equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including skills in diagnostics, fault-finding, and repair of engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and braking systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and maintenance schedules, with competent use of diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements, including safe work practices in field service and workshop environments.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team, with good time management and problem-solving abilities.
- Current driver’s license; HR or MR license and experience working in mining, construction, or industrial sites are advantageous.
- Basic computer skills for completing electronic service reports, job cards, and maintenance records.
- Willingness to work flexible schedule when required, including attending breakdow & call-outs, and commitment to ongoing learning, and skills development.
