Kokoda Youth Foundation

City of Gold Coast

Kokoda Youth Foundation, Gold Coast (Arundel). Full-time, on site. $100,000 plus super, plus full NFP salary packaging.

Every year, thousands of people walk up to 96 kilometres because they decided to. Schools, mates, corporate teams, families. They train, they raise money and that money funds free programs for young people who need them. That is the Kokoda Challenge, one of the most recognisable community events in Queensland and it is run by a small team that cares a great deal about doing it well.

Few organisations have a community as committed as ours. This role exists to grow it.

You'll lead a team of two, you and a marketing coordinator, with the creative direction, the channels and the budget in your hands. You'll report to a CEO who wants you to lead.

What you'll do

Set the marketing and communications strategy for the Foundation and lead its delivery

Direct our creative and content across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and email

Brand and Storytelling. Ensure consistent brand messaging through impactful storytelling, leveraging program outcomes and testimonials.

Grow participation and fundraising across four Kokoda Challenge events (Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Sydney), so more young people can be supported

Introduce more schools, sporting clubs and community and corporate groups to Kokoda Park, our 150-bed camp in the Lockyer Valley with high ropes, a giant swing, a flying fox and much more

Review and refresh our marketing systems, including HubSpot, email automations, the website and our paid media on Meta and Google

Lead PR, media and our communications with supporters,

participants and staff

Manage the marketing budget and report on what's working

What you bring

A track record of growing an audience, a fundraising program, an event or a brand, with results you can show us

Hands-on skill across the full mix: creative direction, content, social, email and paid media.

Experience running paid campaigns on Meta and Google and reading what the numbers are telling you

Confidence with a CRM and marketing automation (we use HubSpot)

Solid writing, from a caption to a media release to a message to our supporters

The judgement to represent a youth charity well in public and to work with young people in mind

The discipline to manage a budget and make every dollar count

A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or eligibility to obtain one before starting

Why the Kokoda Youth Foundation

Everything we do is built on the Spirit of Kokoda: Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice. The money our community raises funds free programs for young people across Queensland and the people who work here see that impact up close, at the events, at the camps and in the programs.

You'll be based at our Arundel office with a close-knit team,

with full NFP salary packaging on top of your salary and with the kind of scope over your work that is rare at this level.

Non-Profit Organisations 11-50 employees

Kokoda Youth Foundation’s goal is not only to help kids in our local community, but also to honour the Australian soldiers that fought for our freedom in Papua New Guinea during WWII and to spread awareness to more Australians about this story and legacy.

The heroic defense of Australia against imminent invasion and the spirit of our young soldiers demonstrates that when we work together, look out for each other, and show commitment to a task, things that at first seem impossible, suddenly become achievable.

The Spirit of Kokoda instills the values of Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice into the community of today.
