Occupational Therapist – Community Aged Care

You know how to assess a client. You know how to manage your caseload, communicate with stakeholders and write a good clinical report.

We’re a growing community OT practice supporting predominantly older Australians to remain safe, independent and living in their own homes for longer.

We’re looking for an Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years’ experience who enjoys community practice and is ready for a role with more independence, flexibility and variety.

Community OT Without the Production Line

We believe good Occupational Therapy requires more than fitting as many appointments as possible into a day. An assessment might lead to equipment research, conversations with family, discussions with a care manager, a supplier visit, a builder consultation and a detailed clinical report.

That is all part of being an Occupational Therapist.

We want our clinicians to have enough time to think, investigate options and make recommendations they’re comfortable putting their name to.

Your working week includes time for:

- Client assessments
- Clinical documentation
- Report writing
- Equipment research
- Supplier liaison
- Builder liaison
- Phone calls and emails
- Case discussions
- Travel
- Administration

The aim is a sustainable working week where reports and documentation are completed as part of your job — not something that regularly follows you home at night.

A Different Kind of Caseload

Our practice is particularly focused on older Australians living in the community. The majority of our work is funded through Support at Home and DVA, alongside NDIS, insurance and private clients.

This creates a practical and varied caseload centred around helping people continue living safely at home.

Your work may include

Assistive Technology

- Mobility equipment
- Seating and positioning
- Pressure care
- Daily living equipment
- Falls prevention
- Complex equipment prescription
- Equipment trials with suppliers

Home Modifications

- Home safety assessments
- Minor home modifications
- Major home modifications
- Bathroom accessibility
- Ramps and access
- Environmental modifications
- Joint visits with builders and suppliers

Clinical Reporting





You’ll prepare reports and recommendations for Support at Home, DVA, NDIS and other funding streams, and work closely with care managers, families, suppliers, builders and other health professionals. For an OT who enjoys Assistive Technology, Home Modifications, problem solving and working with older people, there is plenty of interesting work here.

We Take Travel Seriously

Community OT involves travel. Poorly planned community OT involves spending half your working day in the car. We actively work to cluster appointments geographically and structure caseloads around sensible travel.

We also don’t expect you to provide the vehicle.

A Fully Maintained Electric Vehicle Is Included

You’ll receive an electric vehicle for work and personal use, including:

- Registration
- Insurance
- Servicing and maintenance
- Home charging equipment supplied and installed

That means you’re not putting thousands of work kilometres on your own vehicle or constantly submitting kilometre reimbursement claims. The vehicle is part of your employment package.

Your Diary Should Work for You Too

Community work can provide enormous flexibility when it’s managed properly. We give clinicians autonomy to organise their working week around their caseload rather than unnecessarily prescribing exactly where they need to be every hour.

Depending on your caseload and responsibilities, this can include flexibility around:

- Start and finish times
- Working from home
- Client and report-writing days
- Family commitments
- Personal appointments
- Structuring your diary geographically

When you’re not visiting clients, much of your reporting and administration can be completed from home. There will still be team meetings, clinical discussions and times when we need everyone together.

But we believe flexibility and accountability can coexist.

Salary and Earning Potential

$90,000 – $114,000 + Superannuation Your salary will reflect your experience, clinical capability and the responsibilities of your role.

We can discuss remuneration structures including:

- Fixed salary; or
- Base salary plus performance-based incentives

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll need:

- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Occupational Therapist
- Current General AHPRA registration
- A current Australian driver’s licence
- Strong clinical reasoning and report-writing skills
- Confidence working independently in the community
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to manage your own caseload while remaining connected with the wider team

Experience with older adults, Support at Home, DVA, community aged care, Assistive Technology, equipment prescription or Home Modifications will be highly regarded. You’ll also need, or be willing to obtain, the relevant National Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
