Join Our Engineering Team

Greater Hume Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Overseer to play a key role in the delivery of Council's infrastructure maintenance and operational programs.

Reporting to the Manager Works, you will lead and coordinate day-to-day operations, supervise work crews, manage plant and fleet resources, and oversee the delivery of bridge, drainage and maintenance programs across the Council area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with strong civil construction knowledge, practical problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

About the Role

As Operations Overseer, you will:





- Coordinate daily operational activities and supervise work crews to ensure the efficient delivery of maintenance programs.
- Lead and support staff to foster a positive, productive and safety-focused workplace culture.
- Oversee plant procurement, maintenance scheduling and fleet management activities.
- Coordinate and monitor bridge, drainage and infrastructure maintenance programs.
- Manage purchasing and procurement activities in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
- Monitor budgets, resource allocation and asset maintenance programs.
- Promote and maintain high standards of workplace health and safety, quality and environmental compliance.
- Liaise effectively with contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Undertake other duties within your skills, qualifications and experience as directed by the Manager Works.

Salary ranges from $1,771.80 to $1,984.40 gross per week, plus 12% superannuation and commuter use of a Council vehicle. About You To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Demonstrated experience in civil construction, infrastructure maintenance and plant management.
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Experience operating and maintaining a variety of civil construction plant and equipment.
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation,



standards and safe work practices.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Well-developed computer skills, including the ability to use workplace management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- A current Construction Industry White Card.
- A current Class C Driver Licence
