SurfEdge Physiotherapy

Sunshine Coast

Build the sports physiotherapy career you actually want

If you love sports physiotherapy, active rehabilitation and seeing patients progress beyond simply becoming pain-free, this could be the role for you.

SurfEdge Sports Physiotherapy is a growing independent clinic in Maroochydore with a strong focus on sports and running-related injuries, bone stress injuries, tendinopathy, strength and conditioning, objective testing and return-to-sport rehabilitation .

We've recently expanded into a purpose-built rehabilitation facility and invested heavily in the equipment and technology needed to deliver genuinely high-level rehabilitation.

Now we're looking for another physiotherapist who wants to make the most of it.

You'll have the opportunity to build a caseload around the areas of physiotherapy you genuinely enjoy, become involved in the Sunshine Coast sporting community and develop your skills in an environment designed to take patients all the way from injury to performance.

More than a treatment room

We want our physiotherapists to be able to follow a patient through their entire rehabilitation journey.

You'll work from our newly expanded clinic and rehabilitation facility, with dedicated consultation and rehabilitation spaces and a fully equipped gym.

You'll have access to our VALD suite for objective strength and performance assessment, alongside a commercial treadmill, squat racks, functional trainer, free weights, cardiovascular equipment and dedicated rehabilitation space.

For the right patient, the journey doesn't finish when their pain settles.

We want to be able to take them through:

Assessment → Rehabilitation → Strength & Conditioning → Objective Testing → Return to Sport → Performance

If later-stage rehabilitation, strength and conditioning and return-to-sport testing are the parts of physiotherapy you get excited about, you'll have the facilities and support to do them properly here.

Build your own clinical niche

We don't expect you to be interested in everything.

Perhaps you want to become known for treating runners. Maybe you're passionate about field or court sports, combat sports, surfing, strength athletes, adolescent athletes, tendinopathy or post-operative rehabilitation.

We'd rather help you become really good at something you care about .

Depending on your interests, there are opportunities to develop in:

Sports physiotherapy • Running-related injuries • Bone stress injuries • Tendinopathy • Strength & conditioning • Return-to-sport rehabilitation • Objective performance testing • Vestibular rehabilitation • Bone health

We also deliver ONERO® evidence-based exercise for bone health, giving our clinicians exposure to an active older population alongside our sporting caseload.

Become part of the sporting community

We don't want sports physiotherapy to exist only inside the clinic.

There are opportunities to become involved in sports trainer and event coverage, including local sporting clubs, competitions and events.

We're looking for someone who is willing to occasionally get out of the clinic, meet athletes and coaches, develop sideline experience and become a familiar face within the Sunshine Coast sporting community.

Some opportunities may involve evening or weekend work, and we're looking for someone who genuinely sees that involvement as an exciting part of developing as a sports physiotherapist.

We'll help you build your caseload

SurfEdge provides clinic marketing, online booking, reception and administrative support, new-patient opportunities, mentoring and an established clinical environment.

We'll also support you in developing your own professional network and clinical profile.

We want you to become known for what you're good at.

That means you'll be encouraged to develop relationships with local GPs, specialists, sports physicians, coaches, gyms and sporting organisations, communicate with referrers about shared patients and contribute to educational content and social media around your areas of interest.

You don't need to be an influencer or a salesperson.

You do need to be someone who is comfortable talking to people, putting yourself out there and building genuine professional relationships.

The patient relationship matters to us

We're looking for someone who genuinely becomes invested in their patients' rehabilitation.

We love clinicians who can assess a patient, develop a clear plan and then communicate that plan with confidence.

A patient should leave knowing what you think is happening, what you're going to work on together, what they can continue doing and where their rehabilitation is heading.

For our sporting patients, that often means following them beyond symptom resolution and into progressive loading, strength and conditioning, objective testing and return to performance.

We're not interested in unnecessary treatment or creating dependency.

We are interested in building strong therapeutic relationships and helping patients understand the value and purpose of a well-structured rehabilitation plan.

Who would thrive here?

You might be a excellent fit if you:

- Love working with active people and sporting populations
- Are confident, personable and engaging
- Build rapport easily with adolescents, adults, athletes and older patients
- Enjoy explaining your clinical reasoning and giving patients a clear plan
- Become genuinely invested in your patients' progress
- Enjoy gym-based and later-stage rehabilitation
- Are interested in strength and conditioning and objective testing
- Want to develop your own clinical niche and professional reputation
- Are comfortable talking with doctors,

specialists, coaches and other health professionals
- Are happy to contribute ideas and occasional educational social media content
- Want opportunities to become involved in sports and event coverage
- Take initiative and enjoy having some ownership over the direction of your caseload
- Are curious, coachable and keen to keep developing

We're interested in finding the right clinician , not simply the person with the most years of experience. An experienced private-practice or sports physiotherapist would be very welcome.

But we'd equally like to hear from an early-career physiotherapist with confidence, initiative, strong communication skills and a genuine drive to become excellent in sports rehabilitation.

We can teach you how to use our technology and systems and help develop your clinical skills.

We're looking for someone who brings the curiosity, energy and desire to build something with them.

What you'll get

You'll receive

- Competitive remuneration appropriate to experience with generous performance bonuses available
- Superannuation
- Annual professional development allowance
- Regular clinical mentoring and professional development
- Access to our VALD suite
- Full use of our purpose-built rehabilitation gym
- Reception and administrative support
- Established clinical and exercise-prescription systems
- Clinic marketing and new-patient opportunities
- Opportunities for sports and event involvement
- Support to develop your own referral network
- Opportunities to create educational content around your interests
- The freedom to develop a genuine clinical niche
- Direct access to the clinic owner and Principal Physiotherapist
- The opportunity to contribute ideas to a growing independent practice

Because we're independent, there aren't multiple layers of management between you and an idea. If there's an area you'd love to develop, a sporting community you'd like to work with or an opportunity you think the clinic should pursue, we want to hear about it.

About the role

We're open to full-time or substantial part-time employment for the right person.

You'll need current AHPRA registration as a Physiotherapist, appropriate professional indemnity insurance and Australian working rights.

Private-practice and sports experience are advantageous, but not essential.

We're more interested in finding someone who sees this role and thinks:

“That's the kind of physiotherapist I want to become.”

How to apply

Send us your CV and a short cover letter introducing yourself.

Rather than a generic cover letter, we'd love to know:

What area of physiotherapy would you love to build a reputation for?

Tell us what interests you, what kind of patients you love working with and where you'd like your career to take you.

If you want to treat, rehabilitate, test, build relationships, get involved in sport and help patients return to doing what they love at their highest level, we'd love to hear from you.
