Consumers of Mental Health WA (CoMHWA) is the 100% Peer-led peak body for people living with mental health challenges in Western Australia and we are looking to recruit a Placement Program Officer (0.6-0.8FTE 3-4 days a week). This recent position will establish a government funded work placement program to support Lived Experience (Peer) organisations and Peer work students.

This role requires the successful candidate needs to be comfortable with the front facing part of the role - meeting students, hosting information sessions with organisations, representing CoMHWA and the program at networking events, reaching out to organisations to set up meetings about the program – and the project management part of the role – creating processes and procedures for the program, creating engaging promotional materials, undertaking program reporting and evaluation.

Essential minimum requirements:

- Demonstrated experience working with adults from priority populations (people with mental health challenges, First Nations peoples, LGBTQIA+ individuals, culturally, linguistically and ethnically diverse communities, young people (18-25), older people, people located in rural and remote areas, people experiencing suicidal ideation or attempts)
- Demonstrated experience building relationships with organisations and stakeholders in the Lived Experience (Peer) sector,



or the wider community services sector
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills. You will also need to have good presentation skills as part of this role will be talking about the program with small groups of people
- Understanding of challenges to student placement and barriers people with Lived Experience can experience when undertaking study
- Understanding of the Lived Experience (Peer) workforce, Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work and other peer work qualifications, and the mental health sector in WA
- Demonstrated capacity to work both autonomously and as part of a team to deliver outcomes
- It is a genuine occupational qualification of this position that you personally have a lived experience of mental health/social and emotional wellbeing issues and recovery in accordance with section 66(s)(c) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984. All employees at CoMHWA meet this requirement.

Desirable requirements

- Experience in vocational education and training (VET) student placement (working with students on placement, being a student on placement).
- Experience or the ability to design and develop promotional materials.
- Experience in project planning and implementation

In addition to the advertised salary the successful applicant will have the option to participate in a very attractive tax reducing salary packaging scheme. Please note positions advertised at CoMHWA are usually on a 6-12 month cycle due to the funding cycles experienced by not for profit organisations. This contract is until 30 June 2027, with the possibility of extension. There are no "permanent" positions available.
