National Government | Disability Sector | EL2 Senior Independent Advisor | Policy & Advice

We are seeking an experienced EL2 Senior Independent Advisor to provide high-level policy advice, stakeholder engagement and leadership within a national government disability environment.

This is a senior opportunity for an accomplished professional with strong government writing, policy, research and stakeholder engagement experience, together with a sound understanding of the NDIS and disability sector.

About the role
Reporting directly to the IAC Principal Member, the Senior Independent Advisor will oversee the development of IAC advice and provide leadership and mentoring to two Independent Advisors.
You will work closely with the Principal Member, IAC and Reference Group members and other key stakeholders to scope, develop and write advice on matters identified within the IAC workplan.

The role requires someone comfortable working under broad direction and managing complex and sensitive issues, while producing high-quality advice that supports the IAC's work and statutory function under the NDIS Act.

Key responsibilities
Your responsibilities may include:

- Overseeing the development and delivery of high-quality IAC advice.
- Working directly with the Principal Member, IAC and Reference Group members to scope and develop advice for the NDIA Board.
- Researching and writing clear advice, recommendations and other products.
- Assisting with Board papers, Ministerial submissions and correspondence.
- Supporting the development of the annual IAC Work Plan.
- Facilitating meetings, steering groups and stakeholder discussions to gather input and feedback.
- Supporting the Principal Member with stakeholder meetings and the induction of new members.




- Providing leadership, supervision and mentoring to two Independent Advisors.

About you
You will be an experienced policy and advisory professional with excellent writing, research and stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to operate confidently at a senior level.

You will ideally bring:

- Demonstrated experience writing for government, including high-level advice and briefing products.
- Qualifications and/or experience within disability, health or policy environments.
- A valuable understanding of how the NDIS works for people with disability.
- Strong disability knowledge, including an understanding of the social model of disability.
- Strong research, writing, planning and analytical skills.
- Experience engaging with diverse stakeholders and seeking feedback to inform advice.
- The ability to work directly with people with disability in accessible, inclusive and respectful ways.
- Strong facilitation skills and confidence leading complex stakeholder discussions.
- The ability to work under broad direction and manage work of a complex and/or sensitive

The role is part-time at 0.6 FTE,



offering $100.56 per hour + super. The initial assignment is for 3 months, with the possibility of extension to 6 months.

Base office locations are available in Geelong/Melbourne, Brisbane, Surry Hills and Canberra.
