About the role
You'll be supporting a 13-year-old boy living at home with his family in Glenwood. He has dyskinetic cerebral palsy with severe dystonia and chorea secondary to a FOXG1 gene variant, refractory seizures managed via ketogenic diet and multiple medications, dysphagia managed via PEG gastrostomy, cortical visual impairment and complex communication needs. He is a responsive, engaging young person who loves music, sensory play, car shows and time outdoors. This is a genuine high-intensity role. Two carers are required for all personal cares, transfers and repositioning, and the participant cannot be left unattended at any time.
Key responsibilities
- Enteral feeding via PEG gastrostomy including preparation of ketogenic diet meals and administration via syringe
- Medication administration including S4/S8 medications as per care plan
- Seizure monitoring, recognition and response including buccal Midazolam administration when required
- Dystonia management and repositioning every 1–2 hours including overnight
- Manual handling — ceiling hoist/sling transfers and top-and-tail technique
- Personal cares including continence management (double incontinence, frequent changes throughout the day)
- Vital signs monitoring including oxygen saturations, heart rate and temperature
- Skin integrity checks and pressure care
- Home therapy program delivery including physio exercises, OT activities and sensory engagement
- Accompanying the participant on community outings and school transport
About you
- Experienced with overnight support
- Skilled and reliable carer
- Able to work shifts across mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and active overnight shifts across all 7 days
Shifts Available
Mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and active overnight shifts across all 7 days. A minimum of two carers is required on shift at all times. Active overnight shifts are a regular part of this roster — please only apply if you are genuinely available and experienced with overnight support.
About the Contract
This is a contract/casual role. The participant is NDIS-funded and while his need for support is consistent, ongoing and significant — with 30+ hours available per week for reliable carers — we are unable to offer permanent employment due to the nature of NDIS plan funding cycles. We value long-term team members greatly and aim to provide as much consistency and hours as possible for the right people. If you are a skilled, reliable carer this role can offer you reliable, meaningful ongoing work.
