Orange, NSW | 6 Month Contract | 8:6 Roster | FIFO / DIDO

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a strong background in bulk earthworks delivery across mining and civil infrastructure projects for a 3-6 month contract.

This role is suited to engineers who take full ownership of earthworks packages — from planning and sequencing through to production, cost control, forecasting, and delivery outcomes. We are specifically looking for individuals with proven experience managing high-volume earthworks scopes, not engineers operating purely in coordination or support capacities.

The Opportunity

You will play a key role in the successful delivery of major bulk earthworks packages on a large-scale project based in Orange, NSW. The position offers genuine responsibility and autonomy, working within a structured project environment alongside an experienced delivery team.

Typical scopes include:

- Bulk earthworks and mass haul operations

- Cut/fill and haul road construction

- Ground stabilisation works

- Mining infrastructure and site development

- TSF and dam lift construction

Roster & Travel

- 8:6 FIFO/DIDO roster

- FIFO options available from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide

- Initial 3–6 month contract with potential extension

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the end-to-end engineering and delivery performance of assigned earthworks packages, including:

- Managing bulk earthworks production, sequencing, and methodology

- Developing and driving 4-week lookahead programs

- Monitoring cost performance, forecasting, and reporting

- Tracking quantities, productivity rates, and cost versus budget

- Preparing accurate monthly forecasts aligned to project progress

- Leading and mentoring Site Engineers

- Developing practical work packs and construction methodologies

- Managing QA/QC compliance and technical documentation

- Liaising with client representatives and project stakeholders

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong operational and commercial capability across large-scale earthworks projects.

Essential Experience & Skills

- Proven experience delivering bulk earthworks packages on mining or civil projects valued at $20M+

- Strong understanding of earthworks production, sequencing, and haul road/access road construction

- Demonstrated capability in cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting

- Experience managing lookahead planning and short-term programming

- Leadership experience managing Site Engineers or junior engineering teams

- Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification

- Advanced Excel skills for cost tracking and forecasting

- Experience using MS Project and/or Primavera P6

- Full Australian working rights

Highly Regarded

- TSF or dam construction experience

- Mining or remote project exposure

- Contractor-side experience on large earthworks projects

What’s on Offer

- Competitive day rates based on experience

- Opportunity to work on a major earthworks project with a strong delivery team

- Genuine ownership and accountability across key project packages

- Structured project environment with clear leadership and planning systems

- Potential ongoing opportunities with a contractor securing major civil and mining works nationally

If you are an experienced bulk earthworks Project Engineer with a solid delivery mindset and the ability to drive production, planning, and commercial outcomes, we would like to hear from you.
