SALARY: $94,923 - 108,750 p.a + Super + Leaseback Vehicle
Work Type: Temporary Full Time up to 2 years

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a passionate and experienced environmental professional to join Council as a Canopy and Restoration Officer. In this newly established role, you will play a key part in protecting, enhancing and growing Camden's urban forest while delivering meaningful environmental outcomes for our community.
Working across a diverse range of urban canopy, revegetation and ecological restoration projects, you will help increase tree canopy cover, restore native vegetation, enhance biodiversity and support Council's response to climate change. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, contractors and community groups, you'll contribute to creating healthier, more liveable places for current and future generations.

Essential:
- Bachelor's degree along with relevant experience in Urban Forestry, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Arboriculture or related discipline, and demonstrated equivalent experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of urban forestry, revegetation, biodiversity conservation, bushland restoration and natural area management principles
- Demonstrated experience in the developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating urban forest planting, vegetation restoration, revegetation or other environmental management projects
- Demonstrated experience using GIS applications and other environmental, asset management or spatial data systems
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands and contribute effectively to a multidisciplinary team
- Proven organisational and project management skills, including the ability to oversee multiple concurrent projects while balancing priorities and deadlines
- Solid communication, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, with sound judgement in making informed recommendations
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
Desirable:
- Experience working in local government
- Experience administering environmental or restoration grant-funded projects
- Knowledge of native vegetation communities and flora species occurring within the Camden LGA and broader Cumberland Plain
