About the role
Outback Coast Group Pty Ltd is seeking experienced Drill Fitters to join our team in Kalgoorlie, WA. This is a casual position offering flexibility and the chance to work on diverse drilling equipment and machinery. As a Drill Fitter, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, assembling, and servicing drilling equipment to ensure optimal operational performance across our mining and resources operations. Your expertise will be essential in keeping our drilling fleet in peak working condition, directly contributing to the success and safety of our operations.
Key responsibilities
- Assemble, install, and disassemble drilling equipment and components with precision and attention to detail
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing of drilling rigs and associated machinery
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults in drilling equipment
- Conduct repairs and replacements of worn or damaged drilling components
- Perform preventative maintenance checks to minimise downtime and ensure equipment reliability
- Operate and test drilling equipment to verify functionality following repairs or maintenance
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work completed
- Work safely in accordance with all site safety protocols and procedures
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and site personnel to ensure efficient operations
- Follow technical drawings, specifications, and engineering standards in all work
What we're looking for
- Trade qualification in mechanical fitting, drilling equipment maintenance, or a related discipline
- Proven experience as a Drill Fitter or similar role within the mining or resources sector
- Demonstrated proficiency in assembling, maintaining, and repairing drilling equipment
- Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Sound understanding of health and safety requirements in mining operations
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to work in regional locations
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Flexibility to work on a casual basis with varying hours as required
- Experience with specific drilling rig models or hydraulic systems is highly desirable
