About the opportunity
Unison Solar Energy is expanding its quality function to support the next phase of our growth. We are recruiting an Incoming & Material Quality Technician to ensure materials are inspected, controlled and traceable before entering production.
In this role, you will perform incoming material inspections and approved testing, maintain material status and traceability, operate the incoming-material inspection laboratory, support investigations and production trials.
This is an opportunity to play a hands-on role in strengthening material quality and manufacturing outcomes for a growing solar business. You will help identify material risks, support continuous improvement and ensure the materials behind Australia’s clean energy future meet the required standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct incoming material inspections and testing, verifying specifications, supplier, batch/lot details and documentation for full traceability.
- Manage material status and traceability, accurately record results, and raise NCRs for nonconforming materials.
- Support material investigations by gathering samples, production data, photographs and traceability evidence.
- Support production trials, material comparisons, replacement materials and controlled material changes.
- Monitor recurring material issues, identify trends and highlight quality risks and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with local teams and overseas stakeholders to communicate quality findings, resolve material issues and support investigations.
- What you will bring
- A Certificate, Diploma, secondary education or equivalent practical experience in Quality, Materials, Manufacturing,
Laboratory or a related technical field.
- Practical experience in sampling, inspection, basic material testing, NCRs, material status control and traceability.
- Confidence operating routine inspection and laboratory equipment in line with approved procedures.
- Strong attention to detail with accurate ERP/QMS data entry, record keeping and basic data analysis.
- A structured and evidence-based approach to investigating material and production issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to work across multiple teams.
- The judgement and confidence to identify, hold or reject nonconforming materials.
