Nutritionist / Dietitian — Remote | FitnessLab Wellness
FitnessLab is opening a nutrition role to run our 12-week nutrition program across our Mosman and Cammeray studios, with a third location opening soon. Around 250 active members already train with us, and their coaches refer them to you. Your job is the coaching — not finding the people to coach.
This is a genuinely unusual opening: you'd be the first nutrition professional in the business. The program has a structure and a client base, but the clinical shape of it is still yours to influence — and as it grows across studios, there's a real pathway to lead the nutrition arm and, for the right person, to hold equity in it.
About FitnessLab
FitnessLab is a boutique training business combining Personal Training, Small Group Training and Nutrition Coaching to help clients achieve lasting results. After five successful years in Mosman we've expanded to Mosman and Cammeray, and we're now opening our third studio.
Our clients are mostly adults aged 40 to 69 who want personalised, evidence-based guidance — not fads, not extremes, not a meal plan copied from an influencer. If that's how you practise, you'll fit here.
The role
You'll own the nutrition program end to end for your caseload:
- Review intake forms and initial assessments, and run the initial consult via Zoom
- Onboard clients into Trainerize, where their meal plan and weekly questionnaire live
- Build individualised, evidence-based plans and adjust them as clients progress
- Weekly written check-ins and a fortnightly video response
- Interpret DEXA and metabolic testing results from our external testing partner and work them into the plan
- Run a weekly 30-minute online group session — one topic, plus recipes and practical tips
- Deliver one seminar per quarter, in person at a studio or online
- Keep the client's personal trainer in the loop so training and nutrition point the same direction
Clients run a 12-week program followed by a 3-month maintenance block, so you'll work with the same people for around six months.
What you'll need
- A formal tertiary qualification in nutrition or dietetics — APD status with Dietitians Australia, or a degree in nutrition science with membership eligibility for the Nutrition Society of Australia
- Professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- Comfort with online coaching tools — we use Trainerize and Zoom (training provided if you're new to Trainerize)
- Clear, warm written communication. Most of your coaching happens in writing, so this matters more than it would in a clinic role
- Sound clinical judgement about scope — knowing when to refer a client to their GP
- Confidence presenting to a group on camera
Nice to have
- Experience coaching general population adults through body composition and behaviour change
- Familiarity with midlife health considerations — perimenopause and menopause, protein needs and sarcopenia, bone density, common cardiometabolic medications
- Background in an allied health or fitness setting
- Comfort translating research into plain language for a non-clinical audience
Why this role
? You're the first, not the twelfth — you'll help shape the program's clinical approach, not just deliver someone else's protocol.
? A path to partnership — as the nutrition arm grows across studios, robust performance can open the opportunity to lead it and hold equity in the business. Our coaching team has the same pathway, and we mean it.
? A warm pipeline — clients come to you referred by a coach they already trust. No lead generation, no consult-to-sale pressure.
⏱ Structured, predictable work — check-ins are batched, the check-in format is defined, and the adjustment protocol is written. You're not improvising your own systems.
? Evidence-led practice — we don't ask anyone to sell supplements, detoxes or meal replacements.
? Train with us — access to our studios and classes for your own training.
Hours and location
Remote. Sydney-based preferred so you can attend quarterly seminars in person, but not essential for the right person. Casual, paid in blocks, starting at 10hs and growing with the client base.
